Here's an irony for you: when the Taliban ruled Afghanistan, they banned the frankly despicable "dancing boy" or bacha bazi practice, whereby young boys would be kept for the purposes of sex and entertainment by older men.  It was essentially culturally permitted paedophilia. 

Now that the Taliban are gone, the practice is thriving again in Afghanistan.
