Oh you guys.
<3 to all.
I'd post in response to all of your posts, but that'd take far too much effort than I'm willing to put forward at the moment, and I've got a Civ4 game to get back to.
One thing I will say though, to whoever criticized my comparing the BIP to the New Testament.
Yes, the BIP says it's different than all the other texts, and doesn't intend to indoctrinate you. But that's part of the (Once again, conscious or otherwise) plan in the BIP. It's part of the con they're playing. It's part of the show they're selling. Of course it doesn't want to seem like the New Testament. Then it would be contradicting it's prime philosophy of "Think For Yourself, Schmuck!" That won't change the fact that, even if it never claims to be more than a book, acts like it's more than a book.
The claims and actions of someone are, quite often, two very different things. For example, I could be stabbing you in the leg, and say "I'm not stabbing you in the leg."
Which would you rather trust, though? Your eyes and your pain receptors that are telling you you're being stabbed in the leg, or the man who's telling you that he's not stabbing you in the leg?
