Watching { WWE wrestling | American Politics } is my one guilty pleasure. I know the story lines are written ahead of time, and the whole { match | election } is rigged from the start, but the compelling narratives are addictive. I find myself rooting for someone to jump into the { ring | race } and start beating a guy with a { fold-up chair | focus-group-tested zinger } . I know it's all fake and contrived, and there'll never be real { appreciation for | progress in } the arena of { real wrestling | meaningful politics } until we give up our addiction to this fake, over-the-top, badly-acted crap. But I { bought my season pass | invested in my candidate } and it seems like such a waste to give up now.

The Republicans are far more likely to fall in line behind Romney should he become President, because the party is more uniformly ideological and the Republicans care about winning first and passing their agenda second. No doubt many conservatives will find Romney's various ways to pass his agenda (whatever agenda that may actually be) somewhat obnoxious, but I don't even see a serious primary challenge being mounted against him, should he take the White House.Romney would in fact probably govern more as a "pre-emptive" President, assuming he could build the coalitions he needed to pass his agenda. Using Ryan as a fluffer for the House Republicans (I will not apologize for that mental image) will probably get most of them to fall in line with his compromises. What people forget is that Romney wants power above all...I wouldn't say he is entirely non-ideological, but he will adopt the colours and rhetoric of the people whose support he needs to get something done. And he will therefore compromise when he has to, because having power is the main thing.
