Also, "I've been there since the beginning" sounds like an abuse victim. "I can't leave him; I've been with him too long".

Welcome.

I don't know shit about TCC, nor do I want to... doesn't seem like my kind of place.

Richter, it's not an issue of not standing up for people or of indifference.  I've tried to explain that.  I could leave, I've been tempted to leave several times, but I haven't because I feel that being there and voicing my stance is better than that stance not being heard.  If it is leave and lose that voice or stay and fight to keep it I choose latter.  I choose to judge people for themselves rather than for the company they keep, I might not be perfect at it all the time, no one is, but I truly try not to box people in that way.

If I am understanding the situaiton correctly, regarldess of your well intentioned voice, nothing was changed.
I also do not understand your abilties as a mod, but couldn't you have revoked an unfounded ban one of your fellows had placed?  It seems more and more to me you let this happen while you had the abiltiy to fix it, but did nothing.  In this case you were not doing any modding yourself, you were simply a pathic accompanyment to their decision.  While solidarity is a virtue, if their actions were wrong in your view then you let your fellows cheapen themselves by letting them do it, worsened the board by lettign it stand, and cheated your principles with you acquiesence.

I fail to see how impotence excuses you.

:lulz: Lots of weak rationalizing of why she upholds a system she claims to disagree with.

Man, I don't WANT to murder babies, but I have to keep doing it because I'm told to, right? If I quit murdering babies, then NOBODY will complain about having to murder babies all the time. It's either stay and fight to be allowed to quit murdering babies, or walk away.

What we have here, folks, is an attempt to justify moral corruption.

They kicked out the JAMS, to use a Wilsonian expression, and now they're standing around, scratching their heads, and saying, "What now?".  5 of them have come here, for one reason or another.  Let them have their pathetic wasteland, but let them have it THERE, not HERE.  I see precisely zero value in any form of detente with any member of their moderation team, and I wish the more recent regs (Lena, etc) would find somewhere else to go.

Odds are if Wyldkat is on the level, they'll cast her out anyway, for being insufficiently committed to Sparkle Motion.  If they don't boot her, you can assume everything she is saying is horseshit.

If you'd rather use the board to just communicate with people as yourself and not as an admin, why be an admin at all? Are you really anything more than a glorified janitor if the most you can do is have your opinion rendered null by a majority of admins who prefer to ban and edit based on whim and personal preference?

A person can indeed be judged by the company they keep, ESPECIALLY on an internet forum where the consequences for renouncing a group of peers are infinitesimal compared to the fallout from ditching people in real life.

What are you really adminning there for, anyway? If the other admins consistently brush away your decisions and the "business end" of adminning is a chore for you, then why bother? Oh, that's right:

On TCC, the only voices that matter in meaningful decisions are the voices of "Teh ELDERZ!" If you renounced that, you'd be kicked to the curb just as fast as anyone else if you disagreed with, say, C_A or Firesong.

I have been at TCC since nearly the time it was founded.  My writing is on the main site.  I stay there and keep doing what I feel is right because I feel it is right and want to make sure my opinion is heard even if I am not in the majority all the time.  If nothing else it provides some kind of balance having people on the extremes working together in one group.

Actually it tends to result in dumb compromises meant to appease the loonies on either side, while everyone else gets stuck with a result that doesn't fix the problem they were working on in the first place.

That place is nothing more than a barren, contentless wasteland of morally bankrupt power-tripping posers, anyway. I'm not sure what the value of being an "elder" in such a place would be. They aren't even Pagans, they know nothing about witchcraft at all as far as I can tell, they have extremely Christian anti-sex, anti-nature, and anti-human "values", and most of them are plumb stupid. The intelligent ones... are mostly our sleeper agents. Go figure that one out, Wyldkat.

Not sure what she was expecting, coming here.

I mean, other than, you know, traffic of SOME kind.

What I really want to know is if ninja editing has been banned, and if Firetard has been on the receiving end of some yelling for doing it at all (I don't expect so, based on who it was done to and the fact that none of you seem to have a shred of integrity. I also don't buy the "breaking of trust" thing, if you can't tell).

So has it?

I can say that it was brought up to the admin.  I can also say that I personally don't agree with ninja editing.  Anything else is stuff that's on the mod board.  I'm sorry I can't say more.
Why can't you give a yes or no? Because I can't think of a single legitimate reason why you can't tell me.

The reason I am not saying more is because the discussion went on in the mod forum and was not posted elsewhere.

As to the several comments about me not taking a stand, I rather wish I could show you some of the stuff in the admin forums as proof.  You can believe me or not, your choice.  I know what I've done.
That doesn't mean that you can't say, "it's under discussion (I expect it'll be passed) and no, we're not happy with Firetard for ninja editing."
Of course, I don't think it'll be passed and Firetard will get away scott free.

You're weak. Let me echo Nigel - grow a fucking spine. I've said it before and I'll say it again - you have more power than you ever bother to use. You could have, if you wanted to, stopped this or force the passage of a ninja editing ban, and if you couldn't have or can't, you should resign (of course, you seem to need the social gratification of being an Elder and you're a spineless wuss with no integrity so you would've done no such thing).

I have to say, I do actually consider OUR admin/mod team to be a bunch of glorious janitors.

... sometimes maybe INGLOURIOUS JANITERS.

hey Wyldkat, I bet you take off that pagan uniform at home, right?

Yeah, but that's pretty much the ONLY reason to become a mod/admin here.

Our mod team is secure enough to not demand artificial "respect". We can, and do, argue with them without fear that they will use mod powers in retaliation. Having very few rules means that people feel free to express themselves, and as we can see, the result is one of the most creatively rich forums on the internet. I'm on another forum with similar rules; in fact, the admin is rarely around and she got rid of mods years ago. It's a thriving, huge forum with thousands of members... she makes a living off the ads.

Every forum I've seen that has a strict hierarchy and a thick codebook of rules has been a failure... TCC is a prime example. It's a place that exists mostly to gratify the egos of a few people who probably feel they have very little control over their real lives and are trying to compensate. The few non-mod members (other than those who are our agents) are emotionally damaged sycophants seeking authority figures to make them feel safe.

When you resort to trying to control other people's expression of self, it's time to reflect on why you feel the need to do so. "It's a family forum" and "respect" are both shallow excuses.

And of course, there's the question of why Christians are running an ostensibly Pagan board, with little to no Pagan content, where censorship is the norm rather than an exception. Hmmm.

fuckers actually sent me a PM one day and said "hey, since you got the keys to our DB and fix shit, might as well make you admin". I didn't WANT to be admin, I was actually a bit scared ... Have you any idea how often I mis-click one of those admin buttons? "Remove topic" is awfully fucking close to the numbered pages links. The confirmation pop-up I get is a fucking life saver
Of course it was a good decision by Faust, being admin in the open makes me all accountable and shit.

(note to self: maybe move the admin buttons a bit further away in the template..)

I've been told I have a chance to speak my piece before I get IP banned just because I'm an admin at TCC.

Let's examine this, shall we?

I've been told I have no chance to speak my piece before I get IP banned just because I'm a Discordian.

Not feeling terribly sympathetic, here.  I'm going to go on public record as saying the only reason I HAVEN'T hit the ban button is that I am personally involved, so I have recused myself pending ECH's decision, or the rest of the mods agree that you go.  The rule is pretty clear cut...If you are a mod/admin at a board that bans Discordians en masse, you get banned here.

Looking forward to this,
Roger, aka Dok.

I've stood up for the Discordians there.  I have never been involved in a ban on someone because they were a Discordian.   Banning is done by majority vote at TCC.  There are still Discordians there.

And Roger, thank you for stepping back, I appreciate it.

I'm not here for TCC.  Honestly they would probably prefer I not be here.  I'm here because I liked some of the threads and wanted to participate.  And EBS would/will probably die of shock when/if he finds out about me being here.

The only reason I brought TCC up at all is because people know me from there and I didn't want to come here pretending to be anything I wasn't.

I posted this thread with the full knowledge I was very likely throwing myself to the wolves.  I could have just kept ghosting, but I wanted to participate.

What I can't talk about is stuff in the mod threads at TCC because that would be breaking a trust which won't do.  Nothing sneaky, just didn't want anyone to think that I would spread that stuff around.

I posted this thread because I had a feeling it would become an issue and mucking up the intro thread seemed sort of rude.

anal? retentive at times I suppose...

I THINK I got everything...  People keep posting more.
