And Puerto Rico voted for statehood!  Let Texas go, let Puerto Rico join and we don't even have to change the fucking flags.

I was just commenting on that the other morning, when some yahoo at the conference table was admiring the Texas secessionist assholes.

When the going gets tough, I guess we find out who the real fucking Americans are.

haha... a petition to ask the federal govt. what it thinks about the notion of secession?

don't these web petitions already have a history of being simply ignored even if they have the requisite number of signatures?

Pretty much.  Just says they'll LOOK at it if it has enough signatures.

I'm betting SOMEBODY there has a big-ass corkboard, with the "best of" pinned to it.

The "official response" may be nothing more than an e-mail saying, "yeah, RIGHT...  You want out, border's that way, pack a coat."

Wow, only ~30,000 people here want to secede?   I figured there would've been a lot more considering there are ~25.5 million people living here.  And that's after this last election when there would be a peak of butthurt.  Maybe I'm not giving Texas enough credit.

Naw.  They'll just be quietly ignored.  And by "ignored", I mean "the leadership of the movement will suddenly discover that their life has turned into a tragic series of misunderstandings of a bureaucratic nature".

The IRS will probably figure into that, alongside several other regulatory agencies.

The government has its fun.  Anyone who says differently is clearly stupid.

I kinda hope the administration does reply.  Just a big "NO," maybe with that .gif of Obama kicking open the door in the briefing room.

Or maybe a short video of Obama's facial expression/giggles/inevitable facepalm when he was informed of the petitions.
