I like this as a metaphor, even though it doesn't really map to human psychology.

Well, one of the improvements I was wanting to make was going more into the psychology of this part:

Quote
Environment and genetics may affect your decisions. But do not forget that decisions also affect your environment and genetics. Decisions you make can affect the way your brain functions forever.

The Bad people that leave you unaware of their existence are people that were given a predisposition, and the assumption that Good would triumph in the end. Without that assumption, they wouldn't have been willing to feed their darkest thoughts. They wouldn't have been willing to take that extra step, to seal their potential for greatness into a dark box.

I was going to delve more into the fact that people are capable of poisoning their minds with their actions via compartmentalization and desensitization. At the time, my mind was all over the place, and it was hard to keep focused on what I did come up with. So I figured I'd refine and make additions later.

Other than that, I think you're right. The rest is a much better metaphor than applied psychology.
Listen carefully. I don't have much time, and I only have 462 characters left. I'm a scientist from Area 52 (Area 51 was used to draw attention from Area 52, where the aliens were ACTUALLY stored) who was working on neural interfacing with networked devices. In an experiment gone wrong, I accidentally uploaded my mind to the internet. In the 2 seconds I had before my mind scrambled itself with the world's network traffic, I was able to store this snippet in this random internet signature. Oops, missed this.

The reference above was to that of the mentality of the malignant narcissist.

You see, psychopaths and sociopaths don't tend to be as egotistical as you would think, or as much as you are told. They are egocentric, which is entirely different. Egocentric means that you simply only care about yourself, and you tend to act in favor of yourself.

Egotistical means you act in favor of your ego and your own feelings. You will cut out the truth to make yourself feel better, especially in regards to yourself.

The people who are often responsible for multiple murders, and who are incredibly intelligent but often get caught anyways, are what we call malignant narcissists. They are the people that get hard watching people bleed out, and not just in the basic "I have a lesion on my brain that gives me only sexual aberrance" kind of way. No, these are the people that get hard to it because they want to. They don't just have some wires crossed. They enjoy the pain of others on a deep, thought-out level. These people are egotistical in the most elaborate ways.

One of the ways that they cope with being so terrible, is that they mark themselves as the necessary villain. You see it with the most famous serial killers. They will flat out tell you that they wanted to be caught, and that they knew that they were terrible. They saw it as their purpose in life. It's actually a twisted form of martyrdom, as they usually blame their issue development on something that happened to them as kids, or something society pushed them to do. For example, one of the famous ones like Ted Bundy or whatever, in an interview shortly before their execution, blamed their issues on regular old porn. Now, while porn is not always the epitome of respect, it is not single-handedly capable of creating a serial killer. Him being caught as the terrible, miserable soul that he was, was his way of "outing" society.
Plenty mofos no be psychopath, sometimes mofo just wan shit real quik. I no denying that many mofo wan get caught, as I myself would rather my
wrongs come up, rather than wrongly be thought of highly and dealing wit dat guilt passing thru my mind at praise. While you're looking at murder,
evil also includes petty shit liek stealing, which is straite up based around avoiding detection. Not many people I've met consider their evils as their purpose,
either, just as their means to achieve their purpose. To support their family, to live, to get paid.

either, just as their means to achieve their purpose. To support their family, to live, to get paid.

People who do only the petty shit consistently aren't just doing it to survive or provide. Petty theft is not a form of survival. It's delinquency, and can be avoided and replaced by more effective methods of acquiring necessities for one's family. I grew up in trashy, violent, "hood" areas. I know what people are capable of when they are in a bad place. They are capable of working their asses off to get out of their situations, and I know that some people are magnets for poor situations, and will never get out of them without direct intervention.

And I also understand that many things are redeemable. Petty theft, and most crimes in general, are redeemable. A person is not Evil for life because they stole some food from the grocery store because they were low on money and had too much pride to ask for help, or simply didn't have anyone around at the time to help out. If you find yourself consistently stealing from people and stores, something in your life needs changed. America is pretty shitty in some places, but I know it's never bad enough to have to constantly steal from people. I've known people with no skills or drive who lived above squalor with service industry jobs, and did so without stealing. And I've seen people work their way out of such places without stealing or committing any crimes whatsoever. I know for a fact that it's possible.

Those people who would consistently do it are often only doing so because they see at as a way of fighting The Man™, or because they see it as their only means for survival. These people are mistaken, and may be supporting Evil. But I would not consider them Evil people.

The truth is that Good doesn't get shit done. Good is too busy self-policing to get off its ass and do something. Good chops its own legs off before a fight because it's unfair to go into battle fully armed when others don't have access to all the benefits of whiteness, straightness, maleness, ableness, etc. Good is self-congratulatory to the point of vomit inducement, patting itself on the back for using the right pronouns and eating the right food and generally being RIGHT all over the place, like a shining beacon of hope to the masses, but it doesn't put a nickle in the homeless guy's cup. Good never learned to throw a punch.

At night Good collapses into a sobbing wreck because it can't handle the stress of living up to "goodness" and it's ashamed and alone and its friends are shallow and worthless as sounding boards or lifelines in the dark.

This.  Right there.  Good is too busy setting or attempting to meet standards of what an "ally" is.

Thing is, if you're fighting Nazis, the USSR is an ally, no matter how weird and downright inhuman their apparatus is.  If you're fighting homegrown Nazis, telling the troops that "they're part of the problem" because of their non-vegan, non-locally grown diet is not helping.  It's making everything worse.  It's letting Nazis win so you can have the smelliest farts under the blanket.

On FB the other day, a friend was going off on how "CIS people are horrible monsters."

"Um."

"STOP THE "NOT ALL CIS PEOPLE SHIT I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU SAID THAT."

"You didn't put any qualifiers on your statement."

"YOU'RE THE PROBLEM!"

*block*

And there's two less people working together to make things better.  VICTORY!

Roger, did you get a chance to read the anarchist article in the Get Miserable thread? I think you'd like it.
