Sandblaster seems a closer fit for purpose.

Do I need to explain the challenge or just give you a time limit?

Already designed.

Tape and drill ceramic through back of bowl.  Insert bead-blasting nozzle, secure with bulkhead fitting, aimed at the center of the bowl's top.  Pressure switch under seat set to 230 pounds (I am NOT getting my wife with this), starting air compressor.  Foot pedal on the floor in front of the bowl to release air.

Sorted.

Did not die. Also did not wake up with laser eyes, so we'll call that a wash.

DID get a promotion at work. Entry-level management at a smaller store that's only about 10 minutes farther away in terms of commute time. Also I'll have a daytime schedule and Sundays off (HELLO FOOTBALL SEASON!) and the extra money should be enough to afford a decent day-care for the kiddo.

My job is to study urban infrastructure failure modes.

Basically, I look down deep manholes at the future crushed remains of humanity.

I've been waiting all my life for this position.

So, this is why I don't make "French military/cowardice jokes".

The description itself may not be very useful, so let me put it in context.  When the Germans moved to invade France in WWII, it was expected they would attack through the Belgian lowlands.  France had the Maginot Line, and the Ardennes in southern Belgium was wooded, hilly terrain - not good for Germany's tanks.

However, the Germans surprised the French and the British by launching an attack through the Ardennes anyway, making extremely rapid progress through the area despite the conditions.  This threw the British/French military plans into disarray, and led to the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force at Dunkirk.

Because the French had been expecting the attack through the lowlands, they had of course stationed their most experienced and specialist forces there.  When the attack didn't transpire, the French First Army fought a rearguard action to keep the Germans from completely destroying the British military forces.  It was 40,000 French soldiers, including a significant number of Algerians, versus 110,000 Germans with 800+ tanks...it was only ever going to end one way.  Nevertheless, they held on long enough for the majority of the BEF, along with almost 100,000 French soldiers to be evacuated

Yeah, they never ran.  They were annihilated.  Their officer corps were nothing to brag about, but their troops had guts.

Neither do I.

In my case, however, itís because of all of the WWI monuments Iíve seen in little French villages all over the country. (I have yet to see all of France, but I have had the opportunity to see a good bit of it over the years.)

Anyway, itís been my experience that nearly every French village has two monuments near its center. Typically, there is a relatively small, granite monument dedicated to the men lost in WWII. And, right next to it, there will be a large monument dedicated to the men lost in WWI.

Quite often, the number of men listed as lost in WWI is staggeringly large compared to the actual size of the village. (Unlike Americans, the French tend to live in cities and villages, rather than scattering themselves out across the countryside on individual, small parcels of land. Iíve often marveled at the amount of empty countryside to be found between French villages, when compared to what Iím accustomed to seeing in the States.) Upon seeing those monuments, I immediately realized the body count was so high in WWI that nearly an entire generation of men had been lost to many, many of the villages I have visited.

So, yeah, the French, and the British, got outmaneuvered in WWII. (And we Americans had our defeats too, like Pearl Harbor.) But, that is not a reflection upon the willingness of the French, or the British, to defend their countries, or their allies.

WWI was even worse for France, it's true.  Their losses were significant enough to impact on French demographics, 4% of their entire population was wiped out in 4 years.  In total terms, they took 22 times the amount of casualties America did in the Vietnam war in just under half the time, on a population 4.5 times smaller.

In other news, I wasn't ambushed by MI5 trainees at the office today.  Instead I was given an envelope suspiciously full of cash.  This wasn't my commission, if it was I could quit the school job no worries.  And I'm still not clear what the money is for, precisely.

So it's going to sit in that envelope for the next 6 months, to see what happens next.

This "Hobby Lobby gets busted for illicit trade in thousands of ancient artifacts" shit is the first thing I woke up to this morning, and now I feel like my whole brain has been knocked off-center.
