Because his writing SUCKS so much and so many people like it that it has to be influenced by Eris.

The Charlatan Clambillies
Sung to the tune of The Beverly
Hillbillies Theme Song

Come listen to a story about a man named Ron
A not so famous writer who was really just a con
And then one day, he was sick of being broke
Started writing essays selling false hope
Snake oil that is, fool's gold, fool's paradise

Well, the first thing you know old Ron's a millionaire
Taking full advantage of people in despair
Said, OT is the place you ought to be
So he loaded up the space ship with all the E's
Meters, that is, clearing sessions, movie stars

Well, now it's time to say goodbye to falsehoods and untruths
That is why this song is sung but the choice is up to you
You're all invited back again to this unreality
To have a heapin helpin of this philosophy
BS, that is, set a spell, take your checkbook out

Y'all come back now, hear?

I read the whole Mission Earth series.

I kept reading it because I kept thinking "This HAS to get  better"

I learned never to read any author whose first book exceeded 500 pages. I means they never learned that you don't need every single detail of everything that ever happened to everyone mentioned in the book.

Q: How serious are you about this whole "Discordian" thing?
A: A blue fish Tuesday!
Q: No really, it this, like, deeply philosphical, or just a huge joke?
A: Yes.

Elron once said: "Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion." For those who don't know - Elron was a struggling writer long before he founded the "church" of $cientology. I also thought it might be of interest to note that Elron was Jack Parsons magical partner.

Have you ever read Jon Atack's A Piece of the Blue Sky?

On line version: http://www.clambake.org/archive/books/apobs/contents.htm

There's a whole chapter devoted to his Magickal Career.

Who needs to read anything? OPEN YOUR EYES! Hubbard wrote science fiction. Religion is just a natural extension of the same theme. Hubard's fiction was painfully BAD. So was his religion. Now Heinlein, on the other hand ...

I've read a number of the above LRH books. I never know whether to laugh uproariously at his guts or be disgusted at his evil.

I think I can accept the view that he's a Discordian (albeit not intentionally) but he's not one I'll invite to my next party...

Hehe I know he's dead... it's just one more reason not to invite him.
