Has anybody not been condescended to while on this site?  Fuck, someone in this thread apologizing for coming across as stupid has outright told me previously that I was coming across as stupid.

As for the education thing, I have seen nobody throw their education around to the extent that I've seen people throw their lack of education around.

I understand the mindset because I've definitely turned hostile for being treated like an idiot, but just as often I see someone's attempt at honest explanation taken as some greivious insult.  Your average PD member has a good head on their shoulders, and regardless of their measured intelligence this puts them on a level pretty far above most people*.  Coming together in an environment with people who aren't used to being wrong, people are bound to get bruised egos when, gasp, they're discovered to be fallible.



*Take note, this doesn't mean we don't fall into the same traps.  We do, in fact frequently because we assume we can't.

But none of us are as smart as DK.

But seriously, I think we all do bring our own thing to the table.  I don't think anyone should be intimidated by anyone here despite their wealth of knowledge in a particular area.  We ARE still human.  We can only know so much at a time.  I mean, I have a pretty good knowledge base in areas involving my career and education.  So I can blather on and on about all kinds of stats and figures and research in substance abuse, public health, and public policy.  But damn, I obviously don't know nearly as much about biology stuff as Kai does.  I get pretty lost in the discussions on quantum mechanics.  While I'm pretty good with American public policy, I'm not as good with the foreign policy stuff.  The stuff around Circuits always gets me lost too. 

But when I see Cain or LMNO or Kai or any other spags go off in their areas of expertise, it doesn't make me feel dumb.  I admire them for their knowledge base in their areas of expertise.  I wish I had more time and capacity to be more learned in those areas, but it just isn't possible for me or any of the rest of us.  We all have a piece in this puzzle.  And we all have a lot to learn from each other.
