If China or Russia recovers before the USA, place bets on systemic war.

Figure on war in Eastern Europe before then.  The natives are getting restless.  Many people are in the hills, beating on drums in the darkness and jabbering nationalism.  Many old scores will be settled, and many new scores will be created.

"Billy, when I say that ethics is our number one priority and safety is also our number one priority, you should take that to mean exactly what I said. Also quality. That's our number one priority as well. Don't look at me that way, you're in the corporate world now and this is how it works."

I saw that "tent cities" are gowing up in Cali, as well as Lincolnshire, not to mention 90% of Africa.

I think the series of events (after "tent cities") will be:

1.  natural disaster
2.  pandemic
3.  martial law
4.  coup d'état
5.  missile strike
6.  thunderdome*

(*I hope we have electric cars befoe that shit)

The escapism of the Octomom media blitz comes about very aptly with the "natural" disasters we have going on in geopolitix, it's true.  I think it's ok to spend a bit of time exploring how shitty those situations seem, as long as t he BIG PICTURE on what's being passed through the brown eye of Congress and the White House is never off the table.  It's when Octomom gets 1m hits and AB5437-A "Initiative to Jail All Citizens for Public Sneezing" etc.  gets 20K that worries  me.

Currently, in the state of CA, we pay more per prisoner per annum than we do per child in public education funding.  WE are now FIFTIETH in the nation.

If there's news about CA I want to see 1m+ hits on, that's it.  I want the world to know that Sacramento wants to spend more money jailing its citizens than educating them.

I concur with Jenne. There's a huge gulf between saying "Octomom deserves whatever derision she gets" and "Octomom is more important that *insert some political nonsense here*". The sad fact is, if those 1M people hadn't been poking at Octomom, they would have been poking at Paris, Brittney, American Idol or LOLCats, they would not have been examining the problems of incarceration vs education in California.

Viral memology--I need to find a way to plant some viral memology in the "ook ook" brains of the citizenry, get that awareness up and shit.  Sorry, been beating my head against the brick wall lately, and the drip drip of the blood into my eyes is wearing me out.

My school district is cutting 420+ jobs, 260 of which are teachers, this Friday, and I just went to a rally/candlelight vigil for it last night.  Didn't make a lick of a difference, of course, though we got some SWEET news coverage.

When everyone is afraid of losing their own jobs, its hard to get them to consider the jobs of people whose salary they pay. Here in Columbus, the mayor asked the Police and Fire Dept to accept freezing wages for the year. The police refused and apparently we're dropping hundreds of them. The firemen, on the other hand, accepted and we didn't lose any of them.

In general, the citizens in town, didn't seem to give a shit either way. Though, it probably didn't make any new friends for the Cowtown Police Dept.

I lit into one bitch making comments on the newsfeed/video from last night already.  I think it was 515 am my time, and I just told her to stop emoting on bullshit like bonds and get her head out of her ass long enough to be educated before she commented.

I'll see if I can find the link...

Isn't it though?
I'm having fun, however.

This is as close to being a troll as I've ever been.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

I don't know if it's like this in most states, but in Oregon the education budget comes largely from property taxes. Needless to say this creates some major issues when home values are dropping, so many homeowners are foreclosing, and housing sales are at a virtual standstill. When people are hanging on by a thread and can barely make their mortgage payment as it is, they're not going to vote for any tax increases, however slight.

"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

Jenne

We have the almighty Prop 13, that decimated the property tax from being the primary source of funding for public school education.  We now have instead the impotent Prop 98, which is supposed to guarantee a certain percentage of the General Fund PLUS Cost of Living Adjustments.  The Governator has "borrowed" (and reneged on those loans) since he came to office.  So Prop 98 means jack and shit, and the loans are now on the chopping block of the Special Elections on May 19th.

Public Ed is fucked.  And since no one gives a shit, to the prisons the children go, where all the funding is put to work, anyway.
