Usually the crack will get rid of the online-only feature and can be downloaded separate from the main payload, for those who still insist on paying money for software. Generally it'll consist of a replacement .exe and maybe a .dll or two.

Of course, even though you bought the game, it's not even remotely your property (the box and the manual are the only parts you actually own) so installing unauthorised files is technically illegal. Just thot I'd warn ya in case you give a fuck about shit like that.

aside from slightly improved graphics, slightly different classes (they combined a few of the previous ones), its Diablo 2

but i haven't played it a tremendous amount yet, it might get better

I fell back down the rabbit hole again after  languishing from separation out of basic, but holy shit is season 4 fun. This is the game they should've released. Highly recommemd giving it another go if none of you have.

I played it in beta. Felt like sacred but still fell short.

I was horribly addicted to d2 in high school. I blame my love for the Amazon class as the primary reason. Dh has been close enough for the itch to be scratched.
