I also completely love the grass and the snow. Your sense of composition is really striking.

The BIP is just a companion volume, a different approach. It works for some people; those are the people it's for. If it doesn't work for you but the PD did, there you go.

Ideally, there SHOULD be many texts, and many approaches... I don't know if I have any essential insight to contribute to a new text, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Why not? Why don't we pick a week in which each of us with an interest in contributing will write or draw something, and the result will be the next companion text? Maybe the theme should be writing from the inside; the subjective meaning and metaphor of Discord.

for the most part, LOL and well-written and all that. But this:

Quote from: Rev. What's-His-Name? on February 05, 2008, 02:19:53 PMIndependents have SOME voice in SOME states, but so far they seem to be split between McCain and Obama.  But clearly, they haven't made up their mind either.

Independents have a hivemind?

:lulz:

Well of course not.  But as a collective of voters, they will have a big impact on the General election, assuming McCain and Obama are the candidates.  Of course, they will make their voice heard individually as they vote.  But the overall direction that the collective of Independent voters go will, I think, be one of the deciding factors in who wins.

However, with that said, if the Republicans and Democrats turn out in the general election as they did in the primaries and caucuses, McCain will have to pretty much win over ALL of the Independents to beat Obama.

No, totally: I was just poking fun at the funniness of that phrasing. :)

How about starting a cult in which, in 2012, followers will flock to public spaces to await the descent of The Golden Pterodactyl? Dressed as pterodactyls.

My sister says she saw some of your posters in her neighborhood, Cramulus; that means there is a mystery person in Portland.

Yeah, if you go through the dermis down to the hypodermis the ink just spreads out in the fat, it's no good.

I was thinking the back of my heel, the roundish part that's visible when I'm standing. The skin is still very very thick there, but it should be doable.

I don't know if you've noticed this, by Islamic extremists have a tendency to declare a fatwa on people who make fun of them in print. Making fun of them by being EXTRA respectful with tongue firmly in cheek is about the only way he could have poked at them without someone trying to kill him. Literally kill him, not, you know, hurt his feelings.

Remember that Salman Rushdie had to go into hiding. Permanently.

Fundamentalist Muslims tend to be some super un-funny guys.

HOLY SHIT. If that was my child I would have him euthanized. Or else I would send him to Waldorf School, which is basically the same thing.

But baby jesus made the world in seven days! By intelligent design, with the help of MacGyger (because babies are not very good at building things).

If it doesn't hurt it's not penetrating to the living dermal layer, which contains the nerve endings (quite a lot of them on the heel), and if it's not placed in the dermal layer it WILL disappear eventually due to the constant renewal of the epidermal layer. The dermal layer does not exfoliate which is why a properly placed tattoo is permanent. If you damage the skin enough, you can remove enough that the ink itself is exposed and comes off with the skin, which is why dermabrasion can work to remove shallower tattoos. It doesn't work on a tattoo that is inked more deeply, which is why laser tattoo removal was invented.
