Many Europeans have slightly different beers for the internal and export markets.
Grolsch in the UK sucks, never tried it in Europe. However, practically every single beer I did try in Belgium was superior to its UK counterpart.

seriously, because Grolsch is in fact one of the best "big brands" of beer you can get in the Netherlands. it may help that it's actually produced here, too.
saying it's "bottled skunk" in the area of Enschede might very well get you beaten up, in fact :-P
it's a high quality beer, slightly more bitter than the other big pilseners, giving it a bit more body and be a "serious" beer.
