:lulz: yeah it's the one thing that time travel fiction always overlooks. When you're going is not in the same where.

Bump.

Had a conversation about the perils of time travel and i used the idea behind this as an example.

...

This also led me to formulate a sequel while i was at work.

Also for math nerds- i actually did the math out. Traveling from 1985 to 1955 would cause the time machine to arrive approximately 1400 AU from Sol. And above it due to the solar systems angle to the galactic plane and direction of movement. This would leave it still within Sols gravitational influence but essentially in interstellar space since its well outside the suns bow shock. ;)

I just tried to figure out what direction is "above" in space, and then my brain collapsed.

I love this thread. How the hell is Jenne doing, anyway? Anyone know?
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

Nephew Twiddleton

Technically there is no above. You would be north (or south since i wasnt able to figure out which way the solar system is going) in relation to the sun rather than aligned with its equator.

Jenne seems to be doing ok. I havent been able to log into ebg on my phone though and the internet was shut off at my apt.

I just tried to comprehend "north" as it relates to the sun and I think my brain is broken forever.

I have no idea how to tell directions in space. I would get so lost.

I fucking dig that Twid did the fucking math.

Which makes Twid another one of the PDers that is smarter than me.

I think I might be the dumbest regular poster.

You aren't dumb by a longshot.

I think that discordianism is one of those things that over time makes you start thinking less about how you can make something work and more about how can this go horribly horribly wrong. Maybe the real reason that we havent seen any time travelers is because all the test pilots are floating around dead in the oort cloud. :lulz:

Also coyote i always figured you were probably smarter than me. Dont sell yourself short. All it took was figuring out how fast the sun moves (1 au every 8 days or 1 light minute per day)
