It's never going to be over.

Don't be such a pessimist. Of course it will. Something worse is bound to come along.

I'm happy enough in introvert or extrovert mode. I am enjoying taking the dog out for a walk on a sunny day and not seeing crowds of stoopids milling about doing retarded shit. There's also a fresh airness that you used to have to go way up north for and the constant drone of traffic is gone. My internal dialogue during these times no longer sounds like the narrator from fight club. In a year or so's time, when this is over I'm gonna miss it. But, fuck it, the party will be legendary!

Credit where credit's due, this response is pretty much on-point.

Quote"Look western leaders keep saying two-three weeks. They say that so that people don't panic. Realistically they don't have any clue and neither do I"

It says 1) I'm not going to bullshit you, but also 2) when I know, you'll also know, and 3) don't listen to morons making populist plays abroad, they're just doing what populist everywhere do, telling people what they want to hear.

I find myself wishing they'd just rip the bandaid off and tell people, "Look you might not be leaving the house til the middle of next year. Sack the fuck up!" but then I think to myself "Fuck it. as long as we collectively come out the end of this friendly warning with the ability to jump to battle stations without any hemming and hawing, we might just survive the big one if and when it comes. If all it takes are some comforting bedtime stories to ease the public into the reality of the situation then I'm actually okay with that."

I rewatched Contagion last night. All things considered, I think the public has adapted fairly well to social distancing.

Is that the one where Jude Law is responsible for about a third of the fucking posts I see on Facebook right now?

A guy goes to a talent agent. He says, "I've got the greatest show you've never seen. I get up on stage and I evict the black half of the audience. I parade in twelve women and rape four of them. I marry three. Then I rape them, too. I have kids with all of them, and the one daughter that pops out, I develop a strange sexual tension with. I don't actually have sex with her, I just sort of silently insinuate that I might be thinking about it, which is in some ways worse than actually having sex with her. I get millions of dollars from Russia for no reason, but I'm so stupid that I actually put it on my tax forms, which I then set fire to. I start loudly complaining about Mexicans. I become president, and I do literally everything I can to not just fuck shit up, but to get away with it, too. Then Mitch McConnell comes out and starts fellating me."

The talent agent says, "Fantastic! What's the name of that act?"

Yoinked!

QuoteMany defied social distancing mandates in Whitmer's order, crowding closely together with rifles and signs supporting Donald Trump. Others stayed in their cars and trucks, some pulling construction gear, landscaping equipment and motorboats. Music blared from loud speakers.

Hundreds ignored guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention by not wearing masks or face covers, shouting about how Whitmer needs to be removed from office.

:lulz:

Well...Bye.

It's a shame this thing has such a low mortality rate. Can you imagine Trump announcing that it's time to go back to work cos the the economy will just magically reappear in a poof of bigly jesus smoke or some shit and all the retarded motherfuckers who listen to him for anything other than lulz actually do it, only instead of a tickly cough it's ebola with a stupid high r0. It's like eugenics but it's okay to laugh cos god did it.

If all the reported reinfections are in South Korea (which doesn't have a particularly high infection rate to begin with), I would consider a systemic problem to be more likely.  Look to the lab.  Unless reports of this start appearing in other places, I wouldn't take it too seriously.

Remember:
The test has a 100% accuracy rate.
The individuals involved didn't have any health issues or unusual genetics peculiar to the area.
The data was entered into the computers without error.
The database software is bug-free.  No two people have the same name.
The original news reporters are subject matter experts, and understood perfectly what the scientists were saying.
Every news agency is careful to do their own research before repeating a claim.

Science is slow.  Wait for the results to be reproduced.  It's not like you can do anything about this, anyway.

All of the above

This is the best possible epitaph for a species dumb enough to blunder into pretty much every situation that ever threatened it's continued existence.

"Why did the human race go extinct, mommy?", "A stoopid pandemic they took no action to combat." :lulz:

Seen on the news that Trump has announced the next two weeks is going to be rough. I can only assume his vocabulary doesn't cover what the subsequent months are going to be like.

Not quite as funny as Trump dying from it but I can't say Boris croaking wouldn't elicit a noteworthy chuckle

Daily government press conference. Michael Gove. Slogan on the front of the podium he's talking from - "Protect the NHS"

How long before his backers demand he knocks that shit the fuck off?

There's a difference between feeling sorry for the poor souls burning in the pits of hell and jumping in beside them to ease your conscience - the former is human, the latter is just fucking retarded. If there's nothing you can do to help them but something you can do to help yourself then there's no moral imperative on you to feel the heat.

Personally our company made out like bandits during the financial collapse, simply because we were offering a saving on a marginal cost which, before the crunch, nobody gave a shit about. After it happened they were knocking our door off the hinges. Did I feel bad for all the poor bastards going under and losing their everything? Yes. Did I feel good about drowning in filthy lucre, while all this was going on? Equally yes.
