4chan has gone to war with Tumblr.

Tumblr has tried to respond...with hilarious consequences.

Shots fired.  4chan spams feminist tags to celebrate independence day.

The counter-offensive begins.  Tumblr petitions Whitehouse.org to shut down 4chan, currently at 1,450

QuoteThere's a faction inside the 4chan community that is in favour of pornography (child, gore, non consensual), abuse, bullying, and other crimes against human and animal rights. If there are not enough reasons to put these people in jail, at least we could prevent them from spreading hate and cyber-bullying. I say that site should be shut down.

The counter-counter offensive.  4chan petitions the White House as well.

QuoteThe people of tumblr should be labelled as mentally handicapped landwhales.

I'm sure you meant to say "Over 9000".

Give it a day or two, this feels like it's got legs.

Indeed.  My bad.  Though it is literally at 9000 when I last checked.

Are we taking bets on when other sites end up involved? Because it's practically inevitable.

I don't even know what to think about this, because it seems to have its origins around this:

I know from second-hand that Tumblr is just a bunch of fart huffing about "triggers" and new useless retarded nomenclature, but this seems to go beyond that and its a bit atrocious.

Imagine the inescapable future where rival internet assholes fued until servers and the buildings around them are dust.

This is the beginning of a glorious age.

Either way...my point stands. This is ancient news by 4chan's reckoning of time.

Tumblr issued it's declaration of war a good 4-5 days ago or so, and provided causus belli within 2-3 hours of 4chan becoming aware of it all.
Tumblr's "attack" consisted of putting "lol we're raiding u" threads up (maybe one or two on the more popular boards) and it fizzled out into obscurity over the course of 12 hours.

Nobody on 4chan even really cares about this anymore...not even the neo nazi imbeciles on /pol/. It's over...and all it amounts to is the occasional thread where some tumblrfag/tumblrfag imitator comes on and rants about how fucked up 4chan is, drops the word "trigger" 9001 times, and then has their thread drop off the board from lack of interest.

As for that whole thing about bikini bridge...I'm suprised someone outside of 4chan even knows about that. I'll admit I had a sensible chuckle at the whole idea when it was still going on, but to think it got far enough for anyone to blog about it...simply amazing.

I'm always surprised /b/ is able to maintain its virility.  I kind of assumed it was doomed after the FBI takeover and the random influx of people with morals that happens every time 4chan goes viral for whatever reason.  It's a long way from where it was a few years ago, and it seems like it sucks a little more each time i go on there.  Probably just one of those things that'll never die.

>/b/
>virility

the only thing the great "tutorial board" has maintained is it's stupidity.

>It's a long way from where it was a few years ago
yeah, I miss the far more frequent CP threads too. it's so boring now that /b/ is nothing but faproulette, furfags and loli.
/b/ is and always was shit...it's the place where new users can post like retards without degrading the quality of the topic-centric boards. this is literally its purpose -- a combination lint filter and "how to use futaba style forums" tutorial.

moralfaggotry per se isn't the problem 4chan gets when it "goes viral". It's climbing population in general combined with an administrative staff that can't take cues from their japanese forebears.

as you increase the population size, you increase the amount of noise:signal, especially considering that the physical size of the boards doesn't scale with the population size (i.e. /b/ is still 15 pages long, even though it's population size has changed over the years).

ni channeru solves this issue by having board duplicates. I.e. on ni channeru, there's like 5 "random" boards. This is unlike 4chan, where they have /v/ (video games), /vr/ (retro games), and /vg/ (videogames general), but more like if they were to just have /v/, /v2/, /v3/...etc.

Because ni channeru has multiple boards, it scales to population size. 10,000 people can use /b1/, 10,000 on /b2/, 10,000 on /b3/ etc -- and the conversations can still be manageable in comparison to simply having 30,000 people on one board.

THIS is the issue with 4chan "going viral" -- not moralfags, but simple population size and administration's lack of effectively scaling to support growth.

Oh good, it's an idiot-fight!

Well, I'm so dreadfully sorry that some of us, y'know, work weekends and so have no time to surf the internet for the latest outrages as and when they happen.

As you may have guessed, that's Sarcasmese for "fuck off you pretentious twit."
