We have a tendency to cannabalize our own too often. Last time I went a' trolling, I pretty much got told to go sit at the kiddy table while the adults were talking, because I wasn't up to that person's standard. I really don't feel like trolling ever again if I'm going to get shat on for doin' it wrong.

So you tell whomever it was to SHUT UP and you get on with things.  Who the fuck gets to be THE BOSS OF THE TROLLS?  Jesus Christ, point it out, because that's sort of like running around with a bottle of vaseline and a sack of sand, and a sign around your neck saying "come fuck with me".

I think 2/3rds of the traffic issues/content problems on PD is a meter-thick layer of ancient, fossilized butthurt.  I do know for certain that some members have left to show us all.  I know some people refuse to post for the same reason.

And so?  If they are really under that much stern damage over the sort of shit that goes on here, then life will NOT treat them well.  Not sure what they THOUGHT they'd get at a Discordian board.

Funny thing is, I also know that some of the people who refuse to post here because of, well, BIG MEANIES are also not too upset to repost our shit elsewhere.

I think a big part of it is growing pains; a lot of the people who left simply have their own lives to attend to, and others left because we're "TOO SERIOUS" and "NO FUN ANYMORE", in the sense that we don't treat everything like a game or refuse to consider anyone's feelings.

Another part of it is that forums in general are much slower these days, either because the heyday of this format is gone or because the recession is keeping them more stressed and busy.

This is a lot of reason for lack of post. The other half is I think very similar to yourself and Roger who post more than most, so I have nothing to say.
I thought this is all there is,
but now I know you are so much more.
I want to upgrade from my simple eight bits,
but will you still love me when I'm sixty-four?

Look, asshole:  Your 'incomprehensible' act, your word-salad, your pinealism...It BORES ME.  I've been incomprehensible for so long, I TEACH IT TO MBA CANDIDATES.  So if you simply MUST talk about your pineal gland or happy children dancing in the wildflowers, go talk to Roger, because he digs that kind of shit

THIS FUCKING THREAD WAS NOT ABOUT TROLLING.

THIS FUCKING THREAD WAS NOT ABOUT PEOPLE NOT BEING ON PD.

THIS FUCKING THREAD WAS A COMPLETE GODDAMN WASTE OF MY TIME.

From now on, I'm going to just cut & paste penis pill ads, because it would get precisely the amount of reading for comprehension that this one got.

I'm still working on ignoring the voice in my head that's always telling me to shut up about stuff.
It's a long struggle but some progress is being made. Being a parent who actually cares about their kid seems to do that.

I figure that ignoring other people telling me to shut up will naturally come along with or shortly after.

It seems, actually, to be a learned skill.

Or, refine your message and try again. Because I don't think I have too much wrong with my reading comprehension.

My reading comprehension is for shit. Maybe that's why I missed a single solitary reference to the internet, anywhere in the OP  :?

All right, I did a re-read of the OP and this is what I got:

TALK ABOUT IT

GET UP ON THE BELLTOWER AND SHOUT ABOUT IT

But do it in a way that gets people to listen instead of turning off. Don't come off as part of the lunatic fringe, don't sound like a wacko, and don't alienate the people you want to convince.

Don't let them dismiss you. SHUT UP SHUTTING UP in a way that makes them listen.

Do I got it?

Yep, unless you want to be a Good Citizen, in which case you should SHUT UP.

Sorry about the outburst, I was just a little frustrated, and I forgot about SHUTTING UP.  :lulz:

Sorry, that wasn't my intention.

I was picking up on an aspect of people SHUTTING UP that bothered me...I would have hoped it was clear that this was only a facet of the post I was dealing with, but maybe it was not.

It's no thing, Cain.  I overreacted to thread drift, is all.

Thread drift is annoying, though.

I just wanted it to be clear that was not my intention.

I agree with talking about it, not shutting up.  Some people may think I have shut up, including people in my personal life, but that's because they are not paying attention.  I'm thinking about what to say next.  And because I want it to have an impact, I'm picking my words very carefully.  Once I have the right ones, I will not shut up.
