Which is clearly that Texas needs to do a better job of arresting the white pot smokers.

My little brother had a cop seize his pot, and then not arrest him or even write him a ticket...My brother saw the cop soon after the stop, pulled over in the next gas station up the road.  The cop had his hands down in his lap, as if he was rolling something...The cop was actually wanting speed, because  he kept barking out "If you have any speed, you'd better give it up now!" repeatedly to my Bro and his friend.

...Apparently you can smoke pot or be Black in Texas, but don't try to do both.

The bill resurfaced today in a special session called by Gov. Rick Perry (R) and was ultimately passed in a 96 to 49 vote. It will go on to the state Senate to be voted on,  perhaps as early as Friday.

Basic handwashing (which you should be doing after handling any wild animal) is enough to prevent infection even if you are unlucky enough to encounter one of the few snails that is carrying around meningitis.

The reason everyone gangs up on giant african land snails is that they're an agricultural pest and they can be dangerous to some types of housing (they'll suck calcium off stucco and concrete, eventually doing serious damage if there are enough of them). They are also a very successful invasive species in certain climates.

They're illegal to keep in the US, because of the whole invasive species thing. People keep them in the UK, though.
