I bet elsewhere on the net, people read this article and said, "Cool they've almost got a cure for autism!" ...as opposed to here: "sweet! new drugs!"  :lulz:

A third party has never won the presidency

but numerous times in American history, a third party has become a second party

I mean - the Dems were formed to fight the federalists

Most of the original Republican were dropouts from the Whig party (which believed Congress should be stronger than the executive branch - lol). They rode anti-slavery to the white house and were only really "legitimate" post-Lincoln.

My prophecy:
The Dems/Repubs disagree on principle. Even compromise doesn't necessarily lead to the best answer for many things. Eventually there's gonna be an issue which neither of them can solve, and a third party is going to have a better solution. If the issue is big enough, and the Dem/Repub candidates are disliked enough, some third party will ride all the way to the white house. Sadly, this may not happen in our lifetimes.

First - this sounds AWESOME. Wanting to see what schizophrenia was like is one of the reasons I first dabbled in crazy chemicals and I'd be quite curious to see what autism is like too. For a few hours. Assuming it's safe.

But sorting through this - they've only done tests on mice so far. In Germany, they might actually be able to get away with further human testing if there's enough support - a participant waiver has a lot more weight in Deutschland than the states.

But here's the thing: are these mice autistic? They have Autism Spectrum Conditions, which (as I understand it) is how they diagnose autism in mice.

QuoteAutism spectrum conditions (ASCs) are heritable conditions characterized by impaired reciprocal social interactions, deficits in language acquisition, and repetitive and restricted behaviors and interests.

the drug cures those symptoms. Does that mean the mouse is no longer "autistic"? Until we get a lab rat who can tell us about his or her experience, we'll never really know.

Flowers for Algernon comes to mind.

So, from what I hear, it appears Ron Paul is most likely going to win the Maine Republican Caucuses and get all of its Delegates.  Of course we have squat for delegates, but he'll at least have one small victory to brag about.  We are the same state that gave Perot his one and only Electoral vote the first time he ran.  Just goes to show how weird things can be up here.

say what you will about the guy, but I'm glad he's gonna get at least one state.

They really don't seem to like you over at MSC, Cram.

I think I've got some bad karma over there from calling people out. The comments over there are as bad as youtube sometimes.

Many people I know have despicable habits, opinions, or hygeine. That doesn't stop me from being friends with them, but it does force me to keep them at arm's length in many contexts.

Also, IIRC, aini never brought up PTSD. To be fair, it sounds more like something you're using to rationalize her recent racist explosion.

Thats the only thing I can think of to rationalize her racism.

If she is not PTSD, then it stands that she is a racist.

I'm not ready to accept that.

she has extremely racist opinions regardless of whether or not she has PSTD.
accept that at your own pace

-but it doesn't mean you have to stop being friends with her.
