600g raw potatoes
200g boiled potatoes
1-2teaspoons salt
2dl Barley flour
3 table spoons wheat flour
1 1/2 litres of water, + two teaspoons salt for boiling.
Shred the potatoes, salt 'em and mix in the flour. The goo is thick enough when the spoon stands upright in it. Boil water.
Use spoons or yer hands to make small balls of the goo.
Put them in the water one by one, let the water boil again when they're all in, then let it simmer for 25 minutes.
Eat with bacon and syrup.

Hey! I have nearly all of those ingredients :D ... Does it work without Barley flour though? (if I'd sub in an equal amount of wheat flour)

It works just fine. I made it in Italy this summer (where they have 12846585 different sorts of wheat flour and nothing else).
I don't understand why this would be good*. Is there a Murrkin equivalent? This puzzles me. :(
*Other than you can eat it with bacon.
Are they like breakfast dumplings?
It's just good.
It's a very heavy meal, and very Traditional in some parts of Norway.
They seem to resemble dumplings, in ingredients, but not in taste, I think.
I'll find me mum's cookbook which contains not only pictures taken by yours truly, but also a history of the foods, and translate it tomorrow.
Also, what's a Murrkin?
Is phonetic spelling of "Moroccan".
Freaky, maybe it helps to think of slightly large-ish gnocci.
Waffle Iron, what's the yellow sauce? It doesn't look like syrup, more like whisked egg?

Some Americans pronounce things funny. They call themselves Murrkins, and they like to drink some burse with their friends.
It's even funnier because a merkin is a vagina wig.
After a few burse they like to complain about how Mexicans turk er jerbs.
WHY IS IT IN METRIC????
WHO NEEDS 100 yards of potatoes????????????????
Looks tasty. I shall do this for breakfast in the near future.

Oh I've made these, but we add onion and other things in the dumplings before we boil them, then do a quick pan fry to brown.
This sounds fairly delicious, I will try them!

I've never had gnocci, but I looked them up and the internet said they're like dumplings, so these are like, two generalizations away from being dumplings. Which is close enough until I have eaten them.

:argh!:
They are big round potato noodle balls!
Needs more bacon. Maybe cooked and crumbled up in them...
Sounds delicious. I love finding new uses for potatoes.
[stupid question]
Just to make sure I'm reading this right, I want to shred some raw potatoes AND some already boiled potatoes and mash them together with everything else? I can see how that would work, but just want to make sure.
[/stupid question]

I have done that a few times. Iz nice.
I just made these. VERY GOOD :D
except I fucked em up too cause I made the mistake of thinking there was water in the dough mixture, which there isn't. DONT DO THAT.
It was because halfway I realized I didnt have a grater anymore to grate the raw potatoes with so I figured, let's add a splash of water and attack it with the stick blender! Which worked, except the splash of water was too much and then I used up all my wheat flour to try and get it dryer and then I even added some corn flour, but it kind of ended up like a thick sludge.
So I had to kind of dump spoons of it into the boiling water, which kind of works, but they're not balls and the outcome is a bit snotty. Which is why I won't provide pics.
However large amounts of syrup make everything better!
Now I'm gonna boil some more because of all the flour adding I have ZILLIONS of this stuff.
And mine seem to be done within 7 minutes, not 20. Perhaps cause they're smaller.
I believe what I'm making is similar to what Austrians call Spaetzl. But those are even more smaller and irregularly shaped, and served with cheese and bacon, like mac&cheese, sort of.
Spaetzl is awesome. That is all.
