P3nT: Still thinking about the issue. Decided to go diving in the PD subforum (yes, I brought my chainmail wetsuit) and I've already found good shit:

Let me clarify some misconceptions here.Chaos and Order are NOT equal.
Chaos is the PRIMAL SOURCE of All Things,it is like the Tao.Chaos is it's own opposite(which is VOID,i.e NO-THINGS.) Order and  Disorder are the opposite and equal to each other.It is two of the five elements that make up CHAOS.(the other three are :
Entropy,NegenropyandConsciousness.These are different from the Discordian elements:i.e Sweet,Boom,Orange,Prickle-prickle,and pungent,which in all actuality are the 5 senses.)

Chaos does not "reign supreme",Chaos just IS.All things are created by chaos,shaped by chaos,and will return to chaos,and so forth.If a butterfly can change the weather in New York,just by flapping it's wing in China,imagine what We do by just breathing....
Discrdianism cannot be divided by itself,because it will always be WHOLE.

Remember,Mal-2 said that every man women and child are popes,and Eris said that we are all free.Everybody is a discordian,whether they admit it,or know it or not.Buddhism,Islam,X-tianity are all just different discordian cabals.Everybody has the right to have their own relationship with Eris(or not) in a way that they and Eris agree upon(or not).

We discordians/erisians do not create or cause chaos.No one can.We can create confusion,disorder and strife,but not chaos.We can manipulate eristic/aneristic vibes,but we cannot create chaos.Chaos creates us.Chaos shapes us.The best we can say is that we humans created the NAME Eris.

In my many years on Spaceship Gaia,I have encountered many discordians who seem to think that discordianism is only about acting so weird that no one can stand being around them,screaming out "fnord" all the time,and genuinely acting like drama queens.Discordianism is waaaayyy more than that.Erisianism is about being yourself.Finding your way through the chaos that surrounds us.The Hon.Hagbard Celine once warned(in the Illuminatus!Trilogy) that the L.D.D. not only stands for Legion of Dynamic Discord, but also stands for Lots of Deluded Dopes.

Eris does not command that we go forth and cause chaos.All Eris wants us to do is be free. The Principia Discordia was the first religious tract that actually basically came out and said"Think for Yourself,Schmuck". It should have also said"Speak for yourself,Asshole".

Discordianism is NOt a Pagan/Wiccan Tradition.There is nothing tradional about discordianism.In fact, the variousPagan/Wiccan traditions are just different Discordian cabals.So are Buddhism,Taoism(actually,the Taoists were the first to come out and admit it.Look up the Tao te Ching and read up on the "The Mysterious Woman and The Mother Of The Ten Thousand Things),Christianity,Judaism,Islam,and so on and so forth.

The Principia Discordia is not the final word on discordianism,it is only the first words.The P.D. is only an "Introduction to the Erisian Mysterees,Which is Most Interesting".,and it is just the Opinion of the Joshua Norton Cabal(Surrealists, Harlequinists, Absurdists and Zonked Artists Melee- has anyone else noticed that that spells Shazam!<Goddess I love Mal-2),and we are meant to write our own Holy Books.I sure did.

If I cant find some other choice Verthaine quotes, I think we can edit them into a narrative. Oh, and Cram grabbed the #Six slot, are we bumping this back to #7?

There's some things I really wanted to use for issue 7, but I simply ran out of room (and time). Too much good stuff.

As there's some similarities in our issues' themes, some of what I found might fit your issue. I'll send you a message in the next few days with some links you might want to use. Or not.

Still working on this? I wondered if you wanted to put in some blurb about how participatory the evolution of Discordianism is, with anyone being able to contribute to Scripture or invent Holydays.

I bet there are quite a few examples to be easily found on the forum, but I was scrounging around and remembered this:

Aftermath 65, (December 23), is now the holyday known as "Circlemas", on which circles are pondered, noticed, and appreciated. To celebrate Circlemas, you may wish to decorate yourself, your household, or other things with circles and circular patterns, and partake only of circular foods such as cake, pie, and pizza.

Or, you may not.

which is what made me think of it. I know that various cabals invent their own holydays all the time, and they get incorporated into other cabals' calendars, and so on and so forth. Actually what I should do is write a full article on it, but first I wanted to check in and see if this issue is still on the table.

Also, has anyone come up with a good way of making sure submissions don't get published more than once? One of mine is in both #3 and #7, and it seems like it would be good to avoid such redundancies.

I still have the work I've done so far and I plan on completing it at some point. I'm languishing in a creative funk atm but as soon as it passes I'll get back to work. The thing about the circles fits in well with a tarot card marginalia thing I'm doing.
