it prolly has something to do with motivation
or how they approach things

but im not really sure

it has nothing to do with what they 'know' or what their preferences are

and it has not much (if anything) to do with the PD

some things are similar but some are very different.

I came here because I am a troll. it was the ITT that initially got me to the site. I am also not very vocal on most discussion because 1) if I agree with something I don't like adding a "I agree post" and 2) when I disagree I would rather the person see why themselves or leave it go.

we are more open to the idea of uncontrollability, but that is about it.
we have some very very different mentalities.

I'm thinking of an almost pathological level of underachievement.

But that's probably just me I'm thinking about.

that might be it

living in a place where there is a lot of people with their targets set on control

also: it doesnt seem to just be uncontrollability for the sake of uncontrollability

tyrannosaurus vex

a lot of conversations here, especially rants, seem to have a quality of something being on the edge.

i am on the edge of a breakthrough.

we are on the edge of annihilation.

you are on the edge of my fist.

faust is right about uncontrollability.  but i think there's something besides the rebel-without-a-cause complex. that's evident everywhere you go, especially on the internets, especially among young(er) people.

SC is also right (underachievement). for example, i was supposed to be a big rock star by now.

like discordia has historically been (if it's been around long enough to have a history), PD.com is currently a holding cell for people who cringe at what's coming next. not because we fear it or want to control it. not a fear-the-future thing. not even a bad cringe.  maybe we have just that amount of precognitive ability to say 'get ready.' like a surfer about to catch the mother of all waves, except not as cheese-dick 80s as that sounds.

well personally I think the future is going to fucking kick ass

but I also think watching a guy get hit in the crotch forever kicks ass, so ya know

at least we have that in common

tyrannosaurus vex

the future is a guy getting hit in the crotch forever.

My hunch, because as much as we all hem and haw about the name, I think a lot of us realize how true the BIP metaphor rings.  And we also know for how many it isn't even a thought.  So, I think we have a kind of philosophical circling of the wagons going on here.  Or maybe not.  We'll see how my thoughts change as the day wears on.
Cynicism is a blank check for failure.

Triple Zero

cheap shot at self-congratulatoriousnessity: it's probably something to do with some sort of continual relief that there's others thinking similarly to us

but let's see
- we're smart
- we like coming up with new ways of looking at things, the more newer the better
- we like dealing great justice

maybe it's the great justice thing--somehow it seems to go hand in hand with the "think for yourself" meme:
- if you think for yourself, great justice won't happen to YUO
- if you don't think for yourself, great justice will come, and we don't even have to do much because LAIL = self-ownage, and we just have to make sure we're in the right position to simply point and laugh. makes me think of some sort of mental or verbal aikido*

* i know not much about martial arts, but this was the one where you use the opponents momentum to get him down by stepping inside a smaller circle, sort of, right?

One by one, we break the sheep from their Iron Bar Prisons and expand their imaginations, make them think for themselves. In turn, they break more from their prisons. Eventually, critical mass is reached. Our key word: Resolve. Evangelize with compassion and determination. And realize that there will be few in the beginning. We are hand picking our successors. They are the future of Discordianism. Let us guide our future with intelligence.
