Did you misread that? The guy tried to have the painting removed from display, has sued various media organisations multiple times and  quite likely gave the order to deface the painting. The actual culprits are still unknown.

While I agree it's amusing, I'm pretty sure Zuma is not a great fan of freedom of expression.

South Africa's governing ANC has expressed its "disgust" at a cartoon of President Jacob Zuma as a penis.

The president sued the cartoonist, who works for the Mail & Guardian newspaper, after he depicted Mr Zuma in 2008 about to rape a female figure representing justice. Mr Zuma was cleared of raping a family friend in 2006.

The pair have also clashed over Zapiro's portrayal of Mr Zuma with a shower cap on his head - a reference to Mr Zuma's statement in the rape trial that he had taken a shower after having sex to reduce the chance of contracting HIV.

In an affidavit, Mr Zuma said: "The portrait depicts me in a manner that suggests I am a philanderer, a womaniser and one with no respect."

Mr Zuma, who has four wives, has previously sued local media companies 11 times for defamation.

I think it's funny.  I also think the ANC expressing disgust is the best possible response.  They made their feelings known without curtailing the artist's freedom of speech.

But the idea is the same...Whenever you hear "state's rights", it means "We want the power to fuck over residents in our states in one manner or another."  I have NEVER seen an exception to this.

I am in favor of reduction of federal power and a relative increase in power of states, counties and cities.  In the US this is generally a Conservative position.  I favor it primarially because I prefer to live in Liberal areas and want the area to be able to implement those policies however.

That and because people are better able to effect change at a local level.

W/ regard to "special treatment," I'd rather not get punched, because I am a chick and my bones are mucho brittle from babby having.

Most people don't want to be punched.  Most people should not be punched even if they are being annoying or confrontational.  Smaller more physically delicate people should especcially not be punched and women tend to be smaller and more physically delicate, but a small, physically delicate woman who initiates physical conflict should be punched just as much as a man should.

I've always considered myself a feminist, I was raised by feminists and it's one aspect of my upbringing that I never rebelled against.  Discordianism has caused me to examine my assumptions about feminism and gender relations more critically, but I haven't changed any of my beliefs in any sort of drastic way on the topic.

Point taken. I just think about all the people who comment on amazon about the simonomicon and the stuff that happened to them after they bought it. To be sure a good chunk is a bit of the troll but you know a good portion of them actually believe what theyre saying.

So I thought "ooh I gotta see those comments" and searched a bit, but then I got distracted, as the "publisher" of this simon necronomicon is apparently called "Schlangenkraft".

And that's one bit in the I3 that always confused me, the "EWIGE BLUMENKRAFT, EWIGE SCHLANGENKRAFT" part. Anyone know what's that about, or what it is a reference to?

The only thing I could come up with is that BLUMENKRAFT could be a faux-German pun on "Flower Power" ?

(also, one of my favourite Psydub producers, OTT, named his first album Blumenkraft, but then, on the Twisted Records DVD interview he wore a Pope shirt, and there's a few more "signals from Bob"/Discordia references in the titles and texts on his other albums)

And then comes the fun part, so I searched "Schlangenkraft" on DDG ... Anyone remember that Postmodernism Literary Deconstruction generator? Well, whoever wrote that put something referencing "Schlangenkraft" in the sources/references generation part, and since everybody and their dog posted the output of that software all over the far corners of the Interwebs, it's completely drowned out any of the original signal for "Schlangenkraft" Now THAT is magic ...

Ooh it gets even better pomo generator names "Schlangekraft", if you look for "SchlangeNkraft" you get the I3 references, jeez.

(In the I3) it's indeed "flower power" and the "Schlangenkraft" ("serpent power") refers to either sexual energy (hey again), or the kundalini, or in fact any occult symbolism with a snake in it, really.

I thought I remembered reading in the appendix that it was hitting power, so flower power (peace) forever and hitting power (violence) forever.
