I think you're wasting your time, Nigel. In the near dystopian future, politically motivated crime is considered a mental illness.  Our protagonist, a bitter expert on terrorism and aberrant psychology, and strong critic of the government, is imprisoned for meeting with terrorists (as part of his research, however the government and farcical legal system indict him as a co-conspirator).  Cue an ontological mystery set in a psych ward, where our protagonist attempts to outwit the guards, grind down the psychiatrists attempting to "cure" his "socio-political deviancy" and trying to not go insane as he is surrounded by less than sane people all day and drugged frequently.

I mentally drafted a few scenes of this while the hairdresser attempted to kill me.
