Didn't have the time to post or take pictures at the time, but several days ago, my girlfriend and I saw a guy park his early 80s transport bus in the back of a Walmart parking lot 20 ft away from the police station. This man proceeded to start a big-ass bonfire next to this bus and roast marshmallows. In a parking lot. Next to a police station.
This bonfire was not a little off-the-ground fire-pit made of wrought-iron. It was started on the parking lot concrete.
Also, for the first time, I witnessed a mid-20 year old in a full business suit and nice car spit tobacco gob into a plastic water bottle.
In Ohio, you generally only 'dip' if you don't have enough money for cigarettes. This guy obviously had the money, and chose to chew on tobacco pulp instead of suck in the sweet steak and potato fumes that cigarettes give.

Bomb threats were made in the high school and junior high school that I went to only a few years (And several years) ago. At least one bomb threat/shooting threat every day of the school week so far. Each day, the threat was made open at an earlier period in the day, starting on the first day with the final period. People think that the threat is currently a count-down to a real threat because of the way the threats are numbered:
Monday: 7th bell
Tuesday: 6th bell
Wednesday: 5th bell
Thursday: 4th bell
Friday: 3rd bell
Wondering what's going to happen on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, since my siblings currently go to those schools. The schools were evacuated each day of the week. Some insist it was to get out of exams. Others believe it is a real threat.
Keep in mind, this is the same school district that had a federal investigation started for inherent racism after swastikas were drawn in the bathroom walls and "God hates niggers" or something equally racist was written above one of the water fountains.

Also, not sure if I've mentioned this before: The poor part of the small town is known throughout the town as "brown town." That's right, you guessed it. 99% of the black population of Lebanon lives in these 4 blocks known by this name.
A friend and I were walking at about 3:30 in the morning one night. We were stopped by an officer while passing by a UDF, and asked to pull out our IDs. We weren't doing anything suspicious. Just walking and talking. The officer states that his reasoning for asking for our IDs was that most unsuspicious people don't walk around at 3:30 in the morning, and that most of the time, they are black.
A degree is not necessary to understand why the black population of Lebanon, Ohio is declining.

However, it does grant me the ability to see that they have visibly lowered standards for safety restraints in the zoo over the years. Children can generally get into every single animal enclosure if they tried for 10 seconds, usually less.

One night, my friend and I were walking around our little police-run Republican town, shootin the shit. We were about a block from my house, walking past a UDF (Half the town's cops sit in the UDF's little 20 space parking lot when they meet their speeding ticket quotas), when a cop pulls out of the little lot and stops in front of us on the sidewalk.
"Hey guys, can I see your ID's please?" the cop said, not even getting out of his car.
There is a curfew here for those under the age of 18. But we were both obviously at least 18.
My friend and I glance at each other with strange looks and struggle for our IDs in our wallets.
The cop takes the IDs and notes some things down from them.
He asks, "Where do you guys live?"
"I live right over there, on the corner, we were just taking a walk from my house, where we were hanging out." I said.
"Alright," the cop says, "Not many people walking around at 4:30am at night. Most of them, usually black."
Shocked, my friend and I looked at each other nervously and gave a little hysterical chuckle. The racism is so blunt and rampant in this town, and many like it in Ohio, and this is the first time we'd been confronted with it directly by Law Enforcement. Neither of us are black, so he gave a little chuckle of his own, and gave us our IDs, and told us to have a nice night.
A year and a half later, that same friend became a Trump supporter. :lulz:

I suppose still mostly anecdotal, but I work for a law office, and reading through police reports on a regular basis, when the police see white people driving around certain neighborhoods, particularly with out of state plates (live/work on the MA/NH border and a lot of people do come over the border from NH to do buys) they assume drug deal about to happen. Not quite the same thing Pergamos was getting at maybe, but similar.
Granted the other day when I was driving home from work there was a NH car in front of me, kept blinking to turn off and on, not quite sure where they were going it seemed, I kind of assumed it was likely the case. But hey, I can be a jerk sometimes too.
