Wasn't that a primary concern with Bernie? He insisted that sexism and racism would vanish as soon as economic inequality was eliminated.

I didn't buy it then, I don't buy it now.

Yes, he tended to be dismissive on those issues, particularly early in his campaign, which cost him a great deal of support among women and black voters. This is something we discussed quite a bit, but Bernie supporters refused to acknowledge that those weaknesses were hurting his campaign.

The other thing that could solve this problem would be to remove all window restrictors.  It wouldn't be perfect, but it would allow more of the hot air to leave, so it would be cooler in the evenings and overnight.  This is against the law, as student accommodations are required to have restricted windows, but given their attitude to other health and safety laws, you'd think that wouldn't bother them.

But no.  In this particular case, they follow the law to the letter.

Oh FFS

It's like they WANT the place to be a disaster in waiting.

Finally, the heat has hit the office.

There's no actual heatwave per se in the UK right now, but once it gets above a certain outside temperature, the inside temperature here rises dramatically, due to terrible venting.

Which means we have about 50 million complaints from students about it being too hot to sleep or study.  Every year, without fail, this happens.  And every year, without fail, no-one looks into installing air conditioning or similar.

Note that I'm not saying that classism isn't a real problem. It's a real problem and a huge one. I am simply saying that there are and always have been a lot of people both in the Democratic Party and in other coalitions on the Left that use classism as a fulcrum point that allows them to deny and ignore women's issues and racial issues so they never have to confront their own sexist and racist attitudes, or acknowledge them in others.

This is absolutely true. Maybe I just don't words very good because I could swear this is directly adjacent to and implied by my original point.

It's totally possible that I just failed to pick up on that. I guess my main point is that I don't feel like anything particularly new is going on.

Now I'm doing open lab and I'm pretty sure the next two hours are going to be almost entirely about the dead guy's balls.

I have spent way too much time dealing with and touching a dead guy's balls today. I have a feeling the next class is also going to demand a lot of guided tours through his balls.

Everyone needs a hobby?

The law firm denied sending that letter, so it's either a joke or they're lying. Funny as hell though, especially because it's so believable.

Bumping because this thread is suddenly relevant to another conversation I'm having, and I want to add to it.

We've started eating meals, almost exclusively, with ingredients we can pronounce and understand. This and the aforementioned sugar avoidance make a big difference! We're both already looking and "feeling" lighter and more energetic.

Better not take Organic Chemistry.

I'm grading quizzes and holy shit I have no idea what happened while I was gone, but apparently it wasn't learning digestive anatomy. At all.

As an aspiring artist with a penchant for zombies, learning digestive anatomy is totally on my todo list :lulz:

The hard part is the dissection. They didn't even have to DO it; just LOOK at it. I am taking it from their quiz scores that they did not.
