I was wandering around FetLife the other day (for the unaware, FetLife is a NSFW social networking site for kinksters and the like) and who did I stumble across but

our very own favorite

I suspect you may need to register to be able to see his profile. I'd say it's worth the 30 seconds of effort.

His band/personal philosophy website, with link to forum "Troll Kamp(f)" (spelling seems to vary back and forth)

Enjoy!

I'm inclined to think that most anyone here who would be interested in the following is already aware via FB, but what the hell, it's not like I'm going to have many opportunities to milk this situation.

SO.

Today I went outside for a cigarette around noon, picked up some quick groceries, and aimed back toward home. Then I noticed my car--parked on the street in front of my building--looked a little funny.

Then I noticed that it looked a little funny because IT DIDN'T HAVE WHEELS.

Thanks, car thieves, for picking the shittiest ten year old car on the block! Enjoy my fancy snow tires, you miserable fucks.

HEY BOSTONIANS (and/or the rest of you), is anyone going to this?

Quote
The Tenets of The Tea Party

Sarah Palin and the Tea Party folks are coming into town on Wednesday, April 14th. We'll give them a welcome with a REAL Boston Tea Party.

More details of what is wanted below:

Some Principles Of A Tea Party:

-Good tea. I think that we should find ways to have genuinely good tea at the tea party — have water that's actually hot enough, and tea that's actually good enough.

-Good food. Everybody should attempt to bring tasty finger food — cucumber sandwiches, petits fours, or the like — whatever is within your budget and skill level, to share.

-Beautiful clothing. There's no point in having a counterprotest if you can't look good doing it. Everyone should attempt to dress to the nines, or, if you can't do that, at LEAST to the four-and-a-halves. Of course, TECHNICALLY, one shouldn't go to a tea party in evening dress, but, since so many people don't have proper morning coats these days, I think that it would be wise to let this slide.

-Similarly, beautiful china and linens. We should do our best to bring things that actually look nice. Nice things should be enjoyed.

-Inoffensiveness. This, I suspect, may be the most controversial proposal. I think that we should attempt to have the world's mildest, most inoffensive, polite counterprotest ever held. My ideal would be for the press to come up to interview people about their opinions on tax policies and health care, and have responses such as, "Oh, dear, isn't that a rather personal question?" and, "Really, I prefer not to discuss politics over tea. Would you care for a cup?"

I never imagined

would be the defining factor
between a relationship
and a friend.

lol Eve poetry. I rarely share it but have gotten good feedback on this one (mostly because of the title), so here is.

Discordian Recipes / Toaster Oven is the New ...Oven.
January 15, 2009, 08:35:17 PM
My oven broke. Actually, we just can't unlock that lock thing that you use when you clean the oven.. it's kind of sad. I unfortunately forgot about this and started making a quiche. Luckily, there is TOASTER OVEN.

It's the classy way to cook.

Suggested meals to be cooked with toaster oven? I think I'm stuck using it until my dad gets home to assess the situation, which isn't for a few days.

Or Kill Me / Dear Sophisticaton
November 10, 2008, 03:30:00 AM
Dear Sophistication,

It's been a long time, and I'm sorry to say, but I'm still not sure we can be friends. I saw you the other day, you know. You were beautiful; all sleek lines, right words, perfect poise. I wanted to say something to you, but we both know it wouldn't have worked out. I'm still just a kid, Sophistication, don't you get it? I'm even more of a slut now, more of a fuck up than I was last time we met. I'm busy getting high every day, telling lies every day, and I just can't imagine you could say the same. But you know that already.

I should tell you, we like to make fun of you, Sophistication. We dress up and play pretty and act like you, sometimes, for the fun of the game. We put on our serious faces with our serious high heels and make serious small talk, just like you do. Oh, we're not as good as you, of course. But I hardly think that matters now. Do you?

I'm expected to make nice with you, Sophistication, but I'm not sure I'm ready yet.

Until then,

A.

Discordian Recipes / Risotto
October 15, 2008, 06:58:48 AM
Specifically, butternut squash risotto. I recommend sucking it up and buying the Williams Sonoma puree--so delicious and worth the price, if you can afford it. Given the leftovers I still have, after my entire family ate it for dinner twice since we made it, I'd say it's a good investment. If you disagree, goody for you. ;)

Ingredients:
7 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp minced fresh sage
6 cups stock (veggie or chicken.. I used chicken)
2 cups butternut squash puree
2 tbsp olive oil
2/3 cup caramelized onions
2 cups Arborio rice
1 tsp minced rosemary
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tbsp of the butter. Add 1 tbsp of the sage and heat until the butter browns. Strain the butter into a small bowl and discard the sage. Cover the bowl to keep the butter warm.

In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, whisk together the stock and squash puree. Bring just to a simmer, 8 to 10 minutes; maintain over low heat.

In a large saucepan (or risotto pan) over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the caramelized onions and rice and stir until the grains are well coated with the oil and are nearly translucent with a white dot in the center, about 3 minutes. Stir in the remaining 1 tbsp sage and the rosemary. Add the wine and stir until it is absorbed.

Add the simmering stock mixture a ladleful at a time, stirring frequently after each addition. Wait until the stock is almost completely absorbed before adding more.

When the rice is tender to the bite but slightly firm in the center and looks creamy, after about 30 minutes, stir in the remaining 3 Tbs. butter, the cheese, salt and pepper. Add more stock if needed so the rice is thick and creamy. Let stand for 2 minutes. Drizzle with the reserved sage butter and serve immediately. Serves 6.

(Eve-family had it with some chicken and salad for extra win.)

One day I'll be able to give cooking instructions LMNO-style--that is to say, what strikes me as very casually.. not loaded with :lmnuendo:. Until then, from the recipe card!

Discordian Recipes / CUPCAKES!
August 20, 2008, 05:47:56 AM

Sad, sad purple. Next time, I'm buying pre-mixed purple food coloring.

My brand new cupcake pan. Yayyyy.

And a gross old cookie sheet for lack of something better to keep them all on.

K, done with all the food posting nao. But this was my first time making frosting from scratch and using fun icing tools (Wilton's 1M tip + piping bag), and I'm fucking proud of it.  :D

I made nutella cookies last night. They're really easy and absolutely delicious. Make them!

Nutella Cookies
(makes 30 cookies)

1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
pinch of salt
7 tbsp unsalted butter, at room temp.
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup light brown sugar
2/3 cup Nutella
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350F.

Sift together flour, cocoa, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside dry ingredients.

Cream together butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in Nutella and vanilla extract. Mix in egg.

Add flour mixture and mix until just incorporated. Add chocolate chips.

Drop tablespoons of dough 2 inches apart onto parchment lined baking sheets. Bake for about 11 minutes (9-10 worked better for me) until the edges look set. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes then carefully remove to cooling racks.

Discordian Recipes / Boozy Chocolate Cake
August 16, 2008, 02:12:27 AM
Bourbon Street Fudge Cake (aka Cake of Doom)

2 tsp cocoa powder + enough to line bundt pan
2 tsp instant coffee
¼ cup bourbon
5 oz unsweetened chocolate, finely chopped
½ lb unsalted butter, cubed
1¾ cups water
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
dash of salt
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Preheat oven to 275°F
Grease and dust bundt pan with cocoa powder
Combine water, instant coffee, and bourbon in saucepan over low heat for three minutes (make sure coffee crystals are completely dissolved).
Add chopped chocolate, butter, and sugar. Stir regularly until all ingredients are melted. Transfer mixture into clean bowl, let cool.
Add flour, baking soda, and salt (sifted for more even distribution) half a cup at a time. Beat for one minute after last half cup.
Add eggs and vanilla, beat until smooth.
Pour into bundt pan, bake for 1 hour and 20-30 minutes (until knife/toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean, yaddayadda)
Allow cake to cool before removing from pan; cake can crumble easily if not cool enough.

I forgot to take pictures when I made it, sorry. Some observations: the cake could use some sort of glaze (frosting would be too heavy, at least for my taste) but I think it tastes best with a nice scoop of vanilla beam ice cream or maybe raspberry sorbet; alternately, whipped cream and fresh berries. The bourbon taste was disappointingly faint at first, but it got significantly stronger within the next few days. I still might add more next time and cut the water a bit. Oh, and it freezes well, too!
