But still, fuck hope.

:kingmeh:

Preach that shit Freeky. As long as there is life there is hope. It may not come with a pretty pink ribbon around it, but in most cases life goes on. it is up to each of us to get from it what we may.

I can see two ways which the GOP can easily lose...
they go completely insane and nominate someone like Bachman... or (more likely in my opinion) some of the more fanatical in the tea party actually split and run a third party candidate.

I agree, a split is very possible.

It seems to me that Ron Paul (a man for whom my level of respect varies from sentence to sentence) is perhaps the LEAST fucked up GOP candidate this time around. However, that's not saying much, considering he's still a fucking moron.

Funny, four years ago I figured Romney would be the only worthwhile candidate at this point....

Young and naive maybe?

There has to be something good out there though, right? Right?

What are you smoking?

Not enough, apparently.  :lulz:

ETA: So, what's your take, Hawk? Genuinely curious, here.

Okay, but you won't like it very much. If for even a fleeting second you think any of them are in the Game of Thrones to help you, stop, ram your face into a brick wall until you see the error of your ways. Only then will you realize that really good people are too busy on a local or personal level doing what they can, not at the doorstep of power.

No, no, I completely agree with that. I think the issue is in the semantics. By "worthwhile" I meant from a GOP "win the election" perspective.

My bad, sorry. The GOP is so fragmented right now that it's a crap shoot. The best they can hope for is that the mainstream Republicans shout down the extreme fringe, then the "most reasonable" will stand a chance. The only advantage the Dems have is that they have an incumbent in the White House and even that is on shaky ground.

But on a real gut time crunch I think the GOP has basically destroyed itself by allowing the fringe to even come close to the national stage.

Luna, you'll be pleased to know that there was no "Hope" in Pandora's Box. The word "hope" did not exist in the Ancient Greek vocabulary, and it's but there in modern translations to give the story some sort of moral.

The moral is that there is none. The Greeks were merely telling us that we're fucked forever, but the romantic Victorians wanted nothing to do with it. I'm pretty sure the words that did fly out last were, in fact, "You are fucked forever." in Greek. Or something like that.

I prefer Luna's version. Better edge

ETA: In fact, I hereby canonise it. And god bless all who sail in it!

Seconded.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I've been watching our race since I grew eyes and trying to stay optimistic but lets look at the facts. Our language and our technology, our ability to stay kings of the food chain have all exploded, exponentially, year on year, since we first rubbed two sticks together. Our nature? Same as it was 200,000 years ago.

Civilisation was only ever a fucking pipedream.

A tiny brain eating amobea (sp) that lives in warm water may be trying to kick us out of first place. Killed a guy in Kansas recently.

That's about what I figured. Unless the Empire I live in decides to go play tough guy.

I was wondering why it was up my ass, then I realized that it just likes the naturally curly look. Who am I to argue with that kind of logic? The success speaks for itself.

Hmmm. it seems like we've all been getting lazy lately.  After all, it's not like we don't have time to post something, else we wouldn't be here day in and day out.

I wonder if the problem is that we've all gotten complacent? I mean, like Dok said, it's as if we're all sitting around waiting for someone to say something interesting.

I, for one, am going to force myself to do something evne if it is total crap. Least it's something.

Half the time I sit here with drool running down my chin staring blankly into space, completely immobile from my hair down.

At risk to my own sanity and that of others, I gotta ask:  What the hell is your hair doing?

Tendrils sneak downward towards the keyboard when they leave my numb ass and type things to post here that eventually come back to haunt me. Sometimes it does the firestarter thing, but so far only tiny wisps of smoke are all they can generate.

I am not sure, but I think it accidentally one of the cats too.

Other than regional, what would the long term effects of a North African war be?

Sorry to end up providing an example. A little difficult to write something in depth from a phone. Something that would probably be good for me is to figure out how to more effectively post from work. I wont use the computers there while working so i'm fairly limited there. I dont have a cubicle just a table with a computer on it. What do you think lmno - try and avoid posting on my phone? I suppose i could try and work five to one and wait til i get home...

No, you don't have to write paragraphs of text to keep a thread going.  You can be provocative, ask a question -- hell, if you can write a haiku that addresses the situation, that still works.

Or, depending on how smart your phone is, write text on your work comp, mail it to your phone, then copy the email and paste here.  Ok, that takes some effort, but it's how I've been able to look at and post all the pics you fuckers post.

Hell, I thought you were referring to me.  :lulz:

Maybe I was.... What're you gonna do about it, pardner?

Land a 4 mile long spaceship on your fucking DOG, that's what.  He's a bad person, an intergalactic train robber, and he has SURVIVED FOR MONTHS WITHOUT AN ASS.  Can YOU do that?  Fuck no.  You'd just flip inside out, and there'd be LMNO bits all over the fucking concrete.

Pancho = Starship.

You = Inside out.

FLAWLESS FUCKING VICTORY

Gonna empty the solid waste recepticle in his living room while I'm at it. ALIEN POOP!
