can this rag-tag non-committal group of individuals come up with a way to consistently put together media that is more engaging than anything that is currently available?

if yes
then we should do so

if no
then we should prolly re-think a few things

the media and entertainment landscape is still wide open

the tools are at our fingertips
and the creativity is there...

LMNO

Yes, we can make interesting things.

No, we don't have the resources for effective networking/marketing.

LHX

interesting

i wonder if we are close to having the resources

what resources are we missing? (aside from the cold hard stuff)

If we can make things interesting to the correct people, I can pull in some funding for marketing.

Srsly.

You know what would be really nice?

If we could get this site to be some sort of central networking area for Discordianism.  I know, we're a decentralized lot.  But one main "hub" for brainstorming and swapping workable ideas or techniques, surrounded by an outer layer of smaller groups and cabals doing their own thing, would go much further towards reaching many goals we want.

most things that are interesting happen by accident
and are only temporary

is there any way that we can subvert that?

it might also work if we start making moves and let people jump on board when they perceive it to be a benefit for them

i really have no beef with band-wagon jumpers

i used to
but
i expect it now

Band wagon jumpers rock, especially when it's your band and your wagon. They're like your own little personal sycophants. Good for the ego. And if you get lucky you get to be a 'grandfather' of whatever it was you started.

I've got an idea for a publication that's prolly fairly sustainable...

There are major rifts between Discordians.  These conflicts get extremely interesting.  Suppose each issue focused loosely on a theme and everybody argues about it.

We could get the mahadgeueckwal, noobs, philosophical, asshat, and pineals all together to battle each other in a magazine over a particular idea.  No holds barred.

I'd read it.  And it would be a pretty accurate representation of where Discordia's at.

Careful with this idea.  This was the sort of thing I was working on with the old BIP forum and it was after I did the name change that the thing went kerplooey.

But seriously I think this is a good idea.  I think if we could come up with a database of e-mail contacts then we could send out a newsletter or something with an invite to join the discourse.
