Nine Inch Nails - God Given

Cain is teh uberghey

The remix album is really good.

i saw them live at Sziget last summer. parts of it were really good, especially the crunchy distorted beats and grinding basslines.

the encore was some sort of ballad, with reznor behind a transparent videoscreen displaying falling snowflakes and TV static behind him, which, actually was kinda ghey.

but, all in all, together with Nitzer Ebb and the Chemical Brothers it was among the performances at the main stage i enjoyed most, even though it was raining.
i have a hard time enjoying myself in really huge crowds, probably over 5-15k people or so, such enormous masses of people close together always make me a bit nervous.

I am the same way regarding crowds, so I am picky about shows I go to.

Tom Waits- What Keeps Mankind Alive?

You gentlemen who think you have a mission
To purge us of the seven deadly sins
Should first sort out the basic food position
Then start your preaching, that's where it begins

You lot who preach restraint and watch your waist as well
Should learn, for once, the way the world is run
However much you twist or whatever lies that you tell
Food is the first thing, morals follow on

So first make sure that those who are now starving
Get proper helpings when we all start carving
What keeps mankind alive?

What keeps mankind alive?
The fact that millions are daily tortured
Stifled, punished, silenced and oppressed
Mankind can keep alive thanks to its brilliance
In keeping its humanity repressed
And for once you must try not to shriek the facts
Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts

Written by William Burroughs and is also on the Black Rider, read by Burroughs.

No, I have always disliked Trent Reznor.  Actually have heard more of his shit in the last 5 years than ever before...my wife fucking loves his shit, I wish he would just kill himself already.

You should nuke him & give him to the Jews.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

In an imaginary battle between Trent Reznor and Mothra, who would win?
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

Sepia

Reznor.

After he went all political he's gotten beefy arms.

What was that "beef" thing cartman yelled throughout and entire episode?

The Jews.

Since both Trent Reznor and Mothra are Jewish, I take that answer to mean that they would settle things peacably and then go off in a state of blissful union to create their own new dynasty of moths with incredibly narrow heads.
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

Jedi Mind Tricks - Shadow Business

- When you over in American Samoa, what...what surprised you the most?
- I guess what hit me the most is the condition of the factory that the workers were in:
The factory was surrounded by a fence and barbed wire on top and on the bottom. And they have a chain-linked fence surround the whole factory and, and dormitory compound. The gate has a...has a guard shack, where the guard sit there and control the worker movement in and out of the.. of the factory
- The factory are made of ahm.. tin panels with tin roof. It's really hot. The temperature over there is verily ninety degrees and inside the factory or the dormitory it reaches way over a hundred degrees.

Yeah
It's the contemporary form of slavery, they call it slave labour
But they don't prosecute them cuz it's how they make paper
When you rocking that fly shit that's made in China
By an eight year old child tryna feed his mama
He exposed to contamination and disease
And only fifty-five percent of them will get degrees
And the women have to try to placate the boss
Because it's sex discrimination in the labour force
The slave master only let them speak in sign language
And they're suffering from lung disease and eye damage
fourteen hour shifts, seven days a week
two shitty meals a day, very little sleep
Human life only worth three cents an hour
All human right laws loose sense of power
What did four hundred years in the grave passes?
Only the improved cleverness of slave masters.

Is life worth living if you living in hell?
When the mind is confined to a prisoner's cell?
And the lies they devise in the system that fail
But I expect the system to fail!
Is life worth living if you living in hell?
When the mind is confined to a prisoner's cell?
And the lies they devise in the system that fail
But I expect the system to fail!

- Many Chinese workers are forced to sign secret agreements, known as shadow contracts, before they leave China, severely and, in some ways, illegally restricting their activities while on American soil. Workers are forbidden to participate in any religious or political activity or to ask for a salary increase or even to fall in love or get married.

It's one point six million people locked in jail
They do new slave labour force trapped in hell
They generate over a billion dollars worth to power
And only getting paid twenty cents an hour
They make cloths for McDonald's and for Apple Bee's
And working fourteen hour shifts in prison factories
And while we sit around debating who the wack emcee is
They have to work when arthritic pain attack the knees
Slavery is not illegal, that's a fucking lie!
It is illegal, unless it's for conviction of a crime
The main objective is to get you in your fucking prime.
And keep the prison full and not give you a fucking dime
But they the real criminal keeping you confined
For a petty crime but they give you two-to-nine
And ain't nobody there to protect ya
Except a bunch of incompetent human rights inspectors

Is life worth living if you living in hell?
When the mind is confined to a prisoner's cell?
And the lies they devise in the system that fail
But I expect the system to fail!
Is life worth living if you living in hell?
When the mind is confined to a prisoner's cell?
And the lies they devise in the system that fail
But I expect the system to fail!

- The sweatshop situation's kind of cohesive and kind of take advantage on the people that are poor and at an economic disadvantage.
- This Chinese woman made T-shirts and pants at the factory until she became pregnant.
- When I told them I was pregnant, they told me to have an abortion..
- Tu Xiao Mei says she refused to have the abortion and has now been barred from entering the factory.
- To allow them to bring that on to US soil is a very deep concern. We've now documented the facts that management coerces female workers who become pregnant into having abortions.
- But human rights workers say it's common practice
- Inside that factory Chinese law applies, and Chinese law is... is supreme
- Even though it's the United States of America?
- The flag doesn't fly inside there.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

Hey remember the time when I found a human tooth down on Delancey
Hey remember that time we decided to kiss anywhere except the mouth
Hey remember that time when my favorite colors were pink and green
Hey remember that month when I only ate boxes of tangerines
So cheap and juicy, tangerines

Hey remember that time when I would only read Shakespeare
Hey remember that other time when I would only read the backs of cereal boxes
Hey remember that time I tried to save a pigeon with a broken wing
A street cat got him by morning and I had to bury pieces of his body in my building's playground
I thought I was going to be sick, I thought I was going to be sick

Hey remember that time when I would only smoke Parliaments
Hey remember that time when I would only smoke Marlboros
Hey remember that time when I would only smoke Camels
Hey remember that time when I was broke
I didn't care I just bummed from my friends
Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum...

Hey remember that time when you od'ed
Hey remember that other time when you od'ed for the second time
Well in the waiting room while waiting for news of you I hallucinated I could read your mind
And I was on a lot of shit too but what I saw, man, I tell you it was freaky, freaky
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

the dreadful hours

The Losers by Warrior Soul

Have you ever wanted
To be someone you're not
But you look into the world
And you see what you've got

There's nothing there
But brains and guts
Finally open the door
And then it shuts

Look to the center
And I think you'll find
The people that are gettin'
They are blind

You changed the channel
And there's nothing there
You weren't born pretty
And it isn't fair...

Here's to the losers
The substance abusers
To the rejects
All the imperfects

'Cause I think we're beautiful
'Cause I think we're beautiful
'Cause I think we're beautiful
No matter what anyone says
I think we're beautiful
Them most beautiful
In the world

You try for jobs
But they say you're strange
You're sportin' a style
That they call pain

So you get in trouble
And your brain is gone
You're cryin' out man
But the words are wrong

Here's to the losers
The substance abusers
To the rejects
All the imperfects

'Cause I think we're beautiful
'Cause I think we're beautiful
'Cause I think we're beautiful
No matter what anyone says
I think we're beautiful
Them most beautiful
In the world

I know you're tired
Of being put down
And all the crap that's said in town
But you're the person that matters most
I raise my glass, and make a toast

This one's for the losers
Substance abusers
To the rejects
All the imperfects

To the retarded
And the broken-hearted
To the starving massses
And the lower classes

'Cause I think we're beautiful
'Cause I think we're beautiful
'Cause I think we're beautiful
No matter what anyone else says
I think we're beautiful

"The Riddle (You and I)" by Five for Fighting

There was a man back in '95
Whose heart ran out of summers
But before he died, I asked him
Wait, what's the sense in life
Come over me, Come over me

He said,

"Son why you got to sing that tune
Catch a Dylan song or some eclipse of the moon
Let an angel swing and make you swoon
Then you will see... You will see."

Then he said,

"Here's a riddle for yah
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I..."

Picked up my kid from school today
Did you learn anything cause in the world today
You can't live in a castle far away
Now talk to me, come talk to me

He said,

"Dad I'm big but we're smaller than small
In the scheme of things, well we're nothing at all
Still every mother's child sings a lonely song
So play with me, come play with me"

And Hey Dad
Here's a riddle for yah
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I...

I said,

"Son for all I've told yah
When you get right down to the
Reason for the world...
Who am I?"

There are secrets that we still have left to find
There have been mysteries from the beginning of time
There are answers we're not wise enough to see

He said... You looking for a clue I Love You free...

The batter swings and the summer flies
As I look into my angel's eyes
A song plays on while the moon is high over me
Something comes over me

I guess we're big and I guess we're small
If you think about it man you know we got it all
Cause we're all we got on this bouncing ball
And I love you free
I love you freely

Here's a riddle for yah
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I...
So long, and thanks for all the shit.

The Thing About It- Sweatshop Union

This is a time of growth for those that know
And it's a time of hope for those that don't
But if you're mind is open you'll get shown

We've had our sights blinded; All of my like-minded
People need to get up and discover the right time; it's now
Just start opposin' the powers that arose
In ancient days and paved the way to this road
So control it's sickening; Most just sit and stare
At a television with a distant glare
And I'm ashamed to admit it, I'm a slave to the shit
As much as anybody but I'm not afraid of it
This is where the change comes in, this is where we make some difference
Embrace what's within us; And escape from this prison
All it takes is a little bit of faith
And a little bit of love to get rid of all the hate

But the thing about it is we can't just sing about it
We can't just sit around and wait until they fit us out
We figure out where we're goin' while we live in doubt
If you want my truth, listen now, we'll just think about it
The thing about it is we can't even think about it
Can't afford a minutes time to figure how to bring about a change so
Take a second and shake your head and then
Take a step ahead and think about it

Now the ball is in our court while we sit and watch passively
The face of the earth changes drastically after we
Clear space at this rate for strip malls and factories
We risk take a cruel fate at a pace beyond gradually
No more crops for us to harvest and feed
Self-seficiency replaced by clone copy-written seeds
Now ask yourself how can we be free
When the water that we drink is owned by some company

I hear the weap of the streets and cry's of the skies
See weakness disguised as deceiptful lies
But we all lead to survive; And sleep through our lives
Weedin' for highs, all sheep and no pride
Never speak of a lie; I let the fear fortify
My inside's'll die tryin' to fit in the design
I'm reminded daily of world gone crazy
Guns mean safety for orphan babies
Ignore the distortion, you're forced to perceive and believe
What's supersede's as love but who agrees

You survive in the wild with a wife and child
Our whole human history's a line, a type and a file
So live your life in denial, and try to live on your own
Without ya colour t.v., heat, a fridge or the phone
While the average guy lives an elaborate life
Waits days a slave wage beneathe a passionate eye
Now we ovulate, copulate and overpopulate
Never stop to think about the things that we were taught to hate
Now the stage is set, watch the players place their bets
Take a sec, shake ya head, feel alive, make em' sweat
Realize that the system can't exist without belief
Appreciate ya true potential, un-twist your mouth and speak
We're workin' on buildin' a world our children can live
Understand I can't be free while you're still in this prison
And I can spend my days preaching as so on and so forth
But it won't change 'til we don't wanna go on no more

This is a time of growth for those that know
And it's a time of hope for those that don't
But if you're mind is open you'll get shown
