As far as I can tell, ECH wasn't threatening to mod, ban or otherwise abuse his powers as admin.

He was just voicing his opinion, one that he's had for a long time and hasn't said anything before out of some sort of expectation to stay neutral as admin (or that's how I understood it, at least). And it's an opinion that I happen to agree with, somewhat.

One thing that has been disturbing me is how much talk of banning seems to be coming up (during the Dk thing) and a couple of times before that.

I'm my own worst enemy tho - when a mod says "pledge" I can't help thinking it's so bullshit and contrived I can't help but goad them with the option of banning the troll du jour. With a bit of luck I'll never be able to sway them, tho. So far so good...

This. As a troll by nature, the thought of being banned on a board that I actually like bothers me.

Although, I think people only ever bring up banning out of paranoia or when they want to insult the mods.
