Aneristic Illusions / The Laughter, It Hurts
June 18, 2010, 04:28:57 PM
QuoteThe last thing someone who is unemployed needs to be told is that they shouldn't even apply for the limited number of job openings that are available. But some companies and recruiters are doing just that.

Employment experts say they believe companies are increasingly interested only in applicants who already have a job.

"I think it is more prevalent than it used to be," said Rich Thompson, vice president of learning and performance for Adecco Group North America, the world's largest staffing firm. "I don't have hard numbers, but three out of the last four conversations I've had about openings, this requirement was brought up."

Some job postings include restrictions such as "unemployed candidates will not be considered" or "must be currently employed." Those explicit limitations have occasionally been removed from listings when an employer or recruiter is questioned by the media though.

That's what happened with numerous listings for grocery store managers throughout the Southeast posted by a South Carolina recruiter, Latro Consulting.

After CNNMoney called seeking comments on the listings last week, the restriction against unemployed candidates being considered came down. Latro Consulting refused to comment when contacted.

Sony Ericsson, a global phone manufacturer that was hiring for a new Georgia facility, also removed a similar restriction after local reporters wrote about it. According to reports, a Sony Ericsson spokesperson said that a mistake had been made.

But even if companies don't spell out in a job listing that they won't consider someone who currently doesn't have a job, experts said that unemployed applicants are typically ruled out right off the bat.

"Most executive recruiters won't look at a candidate unless they have a job, even if they don't like to admit to it," said Lisa Chenofsky Singer, a human resources consultant from Millburn, NJ, specializing in media and publishing jobs.

She said when she proposes candidates for openings, the first question she is often asked by a recruiter is if they currently have a job. If the answer is no, she's typically told the unemployed candidate won't be interviewed

"The kicker is, as soon as I was done she pissed all over me. It was embarrassing. I never told anyone that before."

Just that they had it seriously redirect to Aspergers.

I might be too easily amused sometimes.

Just a quick quote (not sure if this is the best place for the topic, but whatever).

QuoteNearly all of the herbal dietary supplements tested in a Congressional investigation contained trace amounts of lead and other contaminants, and some supplement sellers made illegal claims that their products can cure cancer and other diseases, investigators found.

The levels of heavy metals — including mercury, cadmium and arsenic — did not exceed thresholds considered dangerous, the investigators found. However, 16 of the 40 supplements tested contained pesticide residues that appeared to exceed legal limits, the investigators found. In some cases, the government has not set allowable levels of these pesticides because of a paucity of scientific research.

Aneristic Illusions / Hitler <3 teh gheys
May 27, 2010, 04:02:50 PM
QuoteSo Hitler himself was an active homosexual. And some people wonder, didn't the Germans, didn't the Nazis, persecute homosexuals? And it is true they did; they persecuted effeminate homosexuals. But Hitler recruited around him homosexuals to make up his Stormtroopers, they were his enforcers, they were his thugs. And Hitler discovered that he could not get straight soldiers to be savage and brutal and vicious enough to carry out his orders, but that homosexual solders basically had no limits and the savagery and brutality they were willing to inflict on whomever Hitler sent them after. So he surrounded himself, virtually all of the Stormtroopers, the Brownshirts, were male homosexuals.

Aneristic Illusions / Fuck Yeah! Education!

Old news, perhaps, but it's new to me dammit. The following are excerpts from a report done on a private school in Brooklyn. Naturally, the school called the report "biased."

Quote
    * Staff shock kids for "nagging, swearing, and failing to maintain a neat appearance" and once threatened to shock a girl who sneezed and then asked for a tissue.
    * Some students must "earn" meals by not displaying certain behaviors. Otherwise they are "made to throw a predetermined caloric portion of their food into the garbage."
    * When students enter and leave the school each day, "almost all" are wearing some type of restraints, such as handcuffs or leg shackles.
    * "Students may be restrained"—on a four-point restraint board or chair—"for extensive periods of time (e.g. hours or intermittently for days)."
    * Some students are shocked while strapped to the restraint board.
    * A "majority" of employees "serving as classroom teachers" are "not certified teachers."
    * Rotenberg's marketing reps bestow presents on prospective families—"e.g. a gift bag for the family, basketball for the student."
    * Although the center has described its shock device as "approved" by the fda in its promotional materials, it "has not been approved."
    * The facility collects "comprehensive data" on behaviors it seeks to eliminate, but "there was no evidence of the collection of data on replacement or positive behaviors."
    * The facility makes no assessment of the "possible collateral effects of punishment such as depression, anxiety, and/or social withdrawal."

Aneristic Illusions / I am reading letters
May 12, 2010, 06:02:45 PM
A fun site, congress.org, it lets you email everybody that represents you in Washington. They also let people publicly display their letters.

An example.

QuoteSubject:
Please Impeach Obama for abusing children

ttn My congress persons

The following information show that Obama is using a false Social Security number

Investigators: Obama using Connecticut Soc. Sec. Number
3 experts insist White House answer new questions about documentation
Source: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=152773

And this may help proof he was not a US born citizen also I have learned Obama has used several names in attending schools .

This is Important as if Obama is not a qualified person for President he should not appoint a person to the Supreme Court and the one he has appointed was appointed illegally.

Not since the gay he has appointed will approve same sex marriage but will also make it possible for gays to adopt children for sexual pervert actions.
A position that the radical homosexually lobby has taken.

And Obama appointee to the Supreme Court has already make remarks " such as papers disappearing as though she has something to hide and has in effect hidden that information.
So no matter the Democrat spin if the GOP does come to power they and the USA will be weaken buy a radical Obama fan that is a enemy of we the people.

So please ASAP indict Obama for child abuse and being a threat to the Children of America including black children.
And IMPEACH Obama ASAP for having a false Social Security card and child abuse

Fact the huge debt that our children will have to pay could be called child abuse but when one considers that Obama with his Democrat friends want to make it impossible for our children to acquire wealth to pay off the huge debit make it a crime against children. The so called wall street bill and Cap & trade is part of Obama plan to destroy the children of the USA.
Note the GOP need to built a fire under Lindsey Graham and ask him how in the past did man cause the Iceland volcano to erupt and how the government taxing we the people allow the government to stop the Iceland Volcano from erupting again?

IN the meantime for the sake of our children IMPEACH and Charge Obama with child abuse.
( note to appease the unions he took his own children out of the special schools that most folks in D.C. used as the Unions had only bad teachers So for the Commie unions he punished his own children. )

As you all know Martin L King wanted prosperity for the children of black as to get the same wealth and jobs as white folks but Obama has cursed the children of black and white children by trying to destroy their ability to get wealth that they will need to pay off Obama and the Democrats huge debt.

Impeach Obama NOW and charge him and the Democrats with child abuse as the Democrats all want a gay on the Supreme Court to rule that gays can adopt children to sexually abuse them.

QuoteOn a bustling Saturday afternoon at San Francisco's Westin St. Francis Hotel, there was a strange disturbance at the check-in counter. A seemingly innocuous gay couple had approached the front desk to inquire about checking in to the hotel. After speaking with the receptionist for moment, one of the women suddenly shouted frantically to her wife, in a voice that carried across the lobby, "Honey, I just realized we can't stay here, this hotel is under boycott!" Her partner promptly turned around and burst into song: "Oh-oh-oh-oh-NO! oh-oh-oh! We're caught in a bad hotel!"

As she sang people joined in from all over the lobby. Making their way from out of the cafe and out from every corner they gathered singing in unison. Much to the amazement of the hotel guests, a flash mob song & dance routine had began! Numbered among them was a brass band, brandishing clarinets, drums, susaphones, and giant horns, filling the ritzy lobby with sound, as dozens of dancers sang along at the top of their lungs.

The group was playing Lady Gaga's song "Bad Romance" rewritten to say, "Don't get caught in a bad hotel!" The event had been called to draw attention to to a boycott called by the workers of the hotel who are fighting to win a fair contract and affordable healthcare. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer activists put the song and dance together as a creative way to tell the hundreds of thousands of LGBTQ people from all over the country coming to San Francisco in June for Pride to honor the worker-called boycott.

The University of Washington performed a survey of the tea partiers about their beliefs relating to race. It was conducted in seven states; Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, and California. Overall, yeah, the teabaggers are more racist than the average American and much more racist than those who oppose the movement.

Naturally, this pisses them off.

QuoteSome Tea Partiers blame the media for casting them as racists. "It really makes me mad," says Tom Fitzhugh, a Tea party activist in Tampa. "They have tried to portray us as a bunch of radical extremists." He considers Obama an abomination—possibly "the most radical-voting senator that ever was" and someone likely to "take us down the path of destruction." He believes the administration is intent on taking away his guns, trampling on states' rights, and opening the borders with Canada and Mexico. He has serious doubts that Obama was born in the U.S. and suspects that the president is a closet Muslim.

This is partially inspired by the transhumanism thread and because I have an interest in genes and synthetic biology.  I was also curious as to what other people on the board think about manipulating forms of life (human, animal, plant, microbial) for our own ends.

My own opinion is that I have a postive opinion.  Manipulation of microorganisms is here to stay and has already given beneficial results.  I think that in the case of plants and animals there is potential benefit.  As for humans, I would love it if gene therapy was made workable (without the cancer issue), but part of me worries about a Hitleresque application. (ZOMG Godwin!)

"Japanese scientists said Tuesday they had created a mouse from a dead cell frozen for 16 years, taking a step in the long impossible dream of bringing back extinct animals such as mammoths."

"Cells from dead bodies have previously been useless as they are ruined in the freezing process. But Wakayama's team discovered a way to extract a nucleus intact from a frozen cell by grinding cell tissues into multiple pieces.

The cloned mouse was able to reproduce with a female mouse, it added."

"But Akira Iritani, a mammoth expert at Kinki University in Osaka, said it was only a matter of time before researchers could find a mammoth for a resurrection project."

Another successful vaccine.
http://children.webmd.com/vaccines/news/20081027/rotavirus-vaccine-a-success-story

"A vaccine against rotavirus, an infectious disease that causes potentially deadly diarrhea in infants, has led to a remarkable drop in hospitalizations and visits to the emergency room, researchers say.

Since it was introduced two years ago, the RotaTeq vaccine has cut the number of new rotavirus cases by 66% to 100%, according to a number of studies."

Genetic factors have been discovered that influence our lifespan.  There are genes that can be turned "on" or "off" and by doing so, make the individual organism live a longer or shorter life.  I just thought it was interesting and wanted to share.

But how cool is it that what is essentially a proton can now be viewed?
