I'm not sure that this is a discussion of Discordianism, as much as a discussion of the philosophies of some Discordians.

This is the best thread I've ever read.

Mucho good stuff herein.

Concerning this:

For me, it's the primate territorialism (Circuits 1-4) combined with its opposite (Circuits 5-8)

Biggest flaw: curcuits 7-8 are so far out there, they might as well be science fiction.

I think strangely enough, my favourite summation of Leary's circuits is the bastardized version on the concordia guy's blog - there were only five.  All the circuits from 5-8 were grouped together . . . and if you think about it the definitions of 5-8 are murky at best, and muddled at worst.  I think its fair to say that they really are all one multifaceted circuit.

And in defence of Leary and RAW, neither of them ever wanted you to take the circuits too seriously either, in fact RAW moved around the 7th and 8th circuits whenever the mood seemed to strike him.  Need I repeat:  The 'menu' is not the 'meal'.

And thus the meaning of life:

Have friends with good weed, when they die... take their weed.

This is all I've ever tried to teach the world.

I just realized that I probably should have mentioned to Cramulus that I stole this to post on my blog.

There.

I mentioned it.

Hi, I'm new around here.  Been reading for a day or so.  I suppose now that I'm not lurking anymore I should go post on that introductions thread or something.

Actually, Mourning Star, you may have been just bullshitting about how RAW pronounced Eris, but you were spot on - he did say Air-Reese, basically.  He also pronounced PD "Prinkipia Discordia."  Heard it with me own ears, I did...

But I still say "air-is" and "Prinsipia"... I loved that old man Papa Bob, but I liked my pronunciations better... and besides, I got the impression he really didn't like people thinking or saying things just cuz he did... I remember him telling me once, with a rather serious look on his face, "one should remember that 'fan' is short for 'fanatic.'"

Prinkipia is actually correct.

I don't pronounce it that way, because I'm a lazy fuck, but that is how it should be pronounced.  No 's' sound in Latin.

Strikes me that the kind of people who would pay for this kind of course are prolly the kind of people who wouldn't get it anyway.

So basically they're separating pinks from their green.

Nothin wrong with that shit

I don't know, obviously I'm biased, but I think there's something to be said about being able to debate with like minds about certain topics you are interested in.

Sure, you could start a forum based on that type of thing, or even just chat in a regular forum (such as this, in case you weren't paying attention) but its hard to get people to do readings so that everyone is on the same page (eh, so to speak) and to keep people on topic.  Paying money has a way of keeping people focused.  Its really not overly expensive, and if you're a fast-talking shyster like me you can even ge in for a reduced fee.

Still cheaper than the Golden Dawn, or Scientology.

Although not as cheap as masturbation . . .
