What's up with everyone "trying Zen", etc?

It almost as if they were looking for something to join.

Welcome to the post-American century.  Welcome to the lost highway.

"Billy, when I say that ethics is our number one priority and safety is also our number one priority, you should take that to mean exactly what I said. Also quality. That's our number one priority as well. Don't look at me that way, you're in the corporate world now and this is how it works."
- TGRR, raising the bar at work.

I'm not trying zen.
I just like to meditate to clear my mind of all the garbage I pick up from
my clients, promote peace of mind, etc.
I would go so far as to say it helps to keep me as sane as possible.
just like in a dream
you'll open your mouth to scream
and you won't make a sound

you can't believe your eyes
you can't believe your ears
you can't believe your friends
you can't believe you're here

Oh, okay.  I torment clothed simians for that.

To each his/her/its own, I guess.

Your way sounds like even more fun than mine,
but I work at home all alone, so it doesn't leave me the toying with clothed simians option.

I have to be fairly decent to the callers or they don't want to pay me anymore.
So meditation is my best tool when it comes to recharging my batteries.

Go to your local WalMart on your off time.

That is almost like a hunting preserve, for me.

WalMart depresses me.
It would be great hunting ground though.

WalMart both depresses and angers me.

This puts me in the right mood to lash out at the hominids who are absolutely begging to be punished.

Yup, that'll do it.
Unfortunately for me, I pick up on all the negative emotions of the other
shoppers and have to go get drunk afterwards.

Wait....that's a good thing, right?

zen is not a 'being,' zen is a 'doing.'

ifyou seek zen, you will not find.

if you listen for zen, you will not hear.

if you try tosmell zen, you will not smell.

zen is the seeking, the listening and the hearing, not what you
seek, what you hear and what you smell.

meditate on that a few times, then return when you are ready for your
koan. your personal koan.
