I've only been through 4 of the troll threads so far, but my favourite golden moment o' woo so far has been this:

I feel like AKK knew exactly what he was doing, especially near the end, and we were all falling for it. Even after inventing the pledge just for him, we went on replying to his troll posts. I hope he isn't reading this though, because if there was one thing we saw in AKK that was definitely a real part of him, it was his massive ego and I don't want him to take it as an invitation to come back.

What was so great about AKK was that at first, it really was fail, but he gradually turned the tables on us. It's a good lesson for all of us that once someone's intent is to annoy, wasting our time with ANY sort of reply is really just giving them what they want.

I approve of this mess.

As a self proclaimed expert piece of shit troll I do take issue with "BREAKING NEWS: Pterodactyls (Pterodactyl Handler X)" actually being considered a troll.  If everyone is enjoying the mirth, it's not exactly trolling, it's just straight lulz.  Trolling implies there is an identifiable mark, a sucker if you will... and yes, I did read it because it beat me out, but that's not the point.

There was no sucker here, it was just fun.  You could make the argument but it would be paper fucking thin.  If say, there was a massive image flood, I might go for it, but even then, this was still a jake not a troll because it was meant to be fun, and was received as such.

Getting down to the trolling science of it all:

Internet Troll /noun/ Somebody who posts in forums and messageboards for the sole purpose of eliciting a negative or lulzy response.

Lulz is laughter at someone else's expense (from the German concept of "Schadensfreude").

Additionally Lulz is said to be engaged in by Internet users who have witnessed one major economic/environmental/political disaster too many, and who thus view a state of voluntary, gleeful sociopathy over the world's current apocalyptic state.

Based on those definitions I move that "BREAKING NEWS: Pterodactyls (Pterodactyl Handler X)" is not actually a troll because the spirit was to make everyone laugh, even though "technically" users were exploited for shoopin' skillz.
