people who can't deal with the abuse will fall by the wayside like the screaming emo kids they are.  Those who can hang will do so.

Who the fuck are you?

I've really got to not take breaks from this board for more than 10 minutes.

Yeah, its funny when the newbies try to act like they are old fogies.

I may be new to the board, but I'm not new to life, so that doesn't make me exactly inclined to suck a dick just cuz you were here first.

Sorry if that messes with your (anyone's) existence, well, not really.

So blow your horn if you need to, I think I'm done with this thread.  Nothing more to see here.

lol @ anyone giving a rat-shit about who was here first.

if you've got something good to say, it will be appreciated whether it's your first post or your thousandth.

if you've got some inane bullshit to say, you'll get told to KYSFTB whether it's your first post or your thousandth.

the 50-post suggestion is a useful tool for giving people in that vast grey area a chance to "get their sea-legs", so to speak, and nothing more.

it's certainly NOT a rule.

personally i think post counts mean very little
there are a lot of members here who i think are very valid members who have very low post counts mainly cause for whatever reason they don't post alot

But the posts they do make, they make them count.

It's funny but I still feel like a noob. I always do for some reason, prolly abandonment issues or something. I been in forums for years at a time and still feel like an outsider.

Go figure.

Defo. I was trying to impress the board when I got here but to me it's more a case of entertain. I wanted you guys to enjoy me, not necessarily kneel before my mighty ego. This is, essentially, a philosophy board. Lot of wannabe messiahs out there.

I hear ya there. Sometimes I wonder if no one's being a prick to me 'cause they haven't noticed I've passed 50 posts or something. Well I'll show them. I'LL SHOW THEM ALL

I've only frequented one other forum and it typically had less than 10 posts per day. So I'm kind of a forum n00b in general in some sense.

No problem. You proved yourself right off the bat, wrote a wicked critique of the BIP pamphlet, actually grasped what we were talking about within the first week.

Hell, it took me a good 6 months to a year before I was settled in, felt like a part of the community. But then, I've always been a little of a neophobe when it comes to meeting new people.

do we have a psychologist on the board?

cause what you describe here is a real bit of psychological group dynamics. people will ALWAYS feel like outsiders, for the slightest reasons.

example, if you put a group of random people together who don't know eachother. say, a mentor-group in first year college, about 10 people. now, two of these people couldn't make it in time, they come half an hour late and when they arrive, they have the feeling the other 8 people already "know" eachother. they feel like a different subset of the group, and this effect can carry long out through the development of the group.
doesn't have to be of course, but that's psychology for ya ;-)

similar to me, sorta, there's a bunch of people who arrived at about the same time as me on this board (and POEE), but they seem like old fogeys to me now. while i just stayed my fresh original self, of course ;-)
