I guess that checks out.
Though I think there are probably 10 other results I could have gotten and said "Oh yeah, that's me"

That strange confused multifaced "self" is really hard to say anything for sure about. Tomorrow, it'll be someone else.

awesome! Make sure they print their routing numbers legibly.

I used to save my little "spam cutlets" as I call them. I've got a folder of them somewhere. Sometimes they're really surreal or beautiful. I got one once that just said something like

digital rain
    words flashed before
digital rain

digital rain

dandelions

for some reason I found it really haunting and unsettling. Good stuff.

I'm looking for suggestions:

I have 2 pounds of boneless pork loin.  I need a recipie that takes no more than 90 minutes to cook.

Go!

Get a stick of butter, a bunch of asparagus, ground cumin, and some fresh sage.

If you enjoy starches, some couscous or rice pilaf is fine.  Instant/just add hot water will do.

Turn on the broiler, and let it get really hot.

Let beef come to room temperature, drizzle a tiny bit of olive oil on then, then liberally season with salt and cumin on all sides.

Trim an inch or so off the bottom of the asparagus, and place in a roasting pan.  again, drizzle with oil, and season with salt.

(prepare the starch, if you want).

Leave the butter out to get soft (not melted), and mince the sage.  In a bowl with a fork, mix the sage into the butter.  place herbed butter on some wax paper, roll it into a tube, put in freezer to harden back up.

place the pan with the asparagus under the broiler, and broil for about 6 minutes, or until it browns slightly.  Remove, and keep warm.

Broil tenderloin for about 3 minutes a side, depending on thickness (about 1.5 inch) for rare.

Season asparagus & steak with pepper to taste*.

Slice a disc of herb butter, and place on top of steak.

Serve.

Estimated total cooking time = 15 minutes.

* if you add the pepper before broiling, you will burn the pepper, and it won't taste very good.

Alright, we've got our feet on the ground!

Barumunk, you are to be commended in taking a bold first step. I see your doc is labeled "Lollercaust 1.1", though I think if we want to be historical accurate, the version history looks like....
1.0 LMNO started to put something together
2.0 Cramulus compiled all the stuff he could find at the WOMP Vault. Later posted it here
3.0 Ratatosk started putting one together?
4.0 Barumunk Gold Edition

I like what you've selected. I think we need a good "mission statement" to pull all this stuff in together. We should have at least one long piece and one short piece which strongly underscore the main theme. And then we can do more or less what Rev WHN said - vote on which pieces meet those goals the best.

So what's the mission statement? (suggestions follow)

Simply put:
- an exploration of horrormirth

More elaborate:
- Learning to LoL at the edge of sanity
- Humor as a tool to stay sane in a crazy world
- The world is fucked up, let's have pie

MOAR elaborate
- Lollercaust is a booklet which can show the reader a useful attitude for modern living. We think that humor is a way of coping with the insanity of bureaucracy and the bureaucracy of insanity. We're the kind of people that laugh at trainwrecks, but this trainwreck is culture, and we are also the victims, staggering around and disoriented, bleeding from the head and cackling, howling, screaming at the moon.

Post Scriptum:

We should be organizing this at the wiki.

word. I have a feeling LMNO was addressing the people who are interested in the project but are waiting for direction. You've got your niche covered, Net.  :p

because sometimes it's not necessary to collect a lot of data before making the decision. You'll never have all the pertinent facts anyway.

alright let's look at it this way. You (the general you, not you Ratatosk) go to the movie rental place and walk around, scanning for anything that catches your interest. You look at the new releases first, then maybe the comedy aisle. You picked a movie and left. You didn't even walk down the horror isle. Is that prejudice?

I think we're using the word differnetly here, Rat. I think you're using it to mean "bad prejudging", but I'm trying to clarify that not all prejudice is 'bad'. It's typically used to talk about race, gender, ethnic, sexual identity, age, and religion... prejudice relating to these topics is bad, but it would be going too far to say that ALL prejudice is bad.

Just to underscore my point:

Quote from: fuckin wikipediaCognitive Prejudice refers to what people believe is true. An example of cognitive prejudice might be found, for example, adherence to a particular metaphysical or methodological philosophy to the exclusion of other philosophies that may offer a more complete theoretical explanation.

so like - unless you believe everything at the same time, you're prejudiced. Is that bad? Not usually.

The word Discrimination suffers from the same halo effect. We use it to talk about race (or whatever), but it's a totally commonplace and generally neutral thing.

I think we're both in agreement though that the bad stuff comes from rigidity and irrationality in applying prejudice and discrimination.

That's how you end up thinking that white men are trying to take your land,

Wait, they're not?

let me clarify:

I'm trying to take your land. Not all white men are.

Off the top of my head, I can probably think of three or four guys who aren't taking your land.

I disagree, Rat. One certainly can be prejudiced about certain actions (as opposed to basing it on "identiy label"). For example if I'm hiring someone for a job, I certainly am going to be prejudiced his about education, whether or not he's been to prison, etc. (I guess you could argue that those are actions and not labels?) I might also be racially prejudiced, and that's the same thing.

Everyone has prejudices, otherwise they'd be constantly wracked with indecision. You pre-judge things a zillion times a day. Prejudice isn't a bad thing, it's a survival skill - otherwise you'd have to drink the regular coffee AND the decaf to make a decision about them.

The danger is when you extend pre-judgements onto large groups of people whom the judgements may not fit. That's how you end up thinking that white men are trying to take your land, or that every single black person in Detroit is actively trying to rape you.

by the way,
I have some prejudices about hot girls, especially curvaceous blondes.
