And while we're on the subject of degrading practices, why the hell can't you closet cases have NORMAL homoerotic dreams, like with Tarzan slinging you around or Denzel teabagging you on a cable car, instead of having me and ECH in one involving raw meat?  I mean, neither of us is BUFF or anything...We're more buffalo, really.  Besides, we work and play well with others, just COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SETS of others than you may be accustomed to, and we sure don't have the money to throw STEAKS around.

Can't you have NORMAL fantasies, like the one where Katie Couric is dressed as Marilyn Manson and my dick is a colonoscopy probe? Now that's more of a standard he-man-type sex thing.  You perverts are so twisted, herd animals go very quiet when you approach.  They know.  THEY KNOW.

Oh

um

Oh my.

Roger done went and got holy again.

To be honest, that could also be said of any alcoholic drink.

For the most part, the reward/consequence ratio is far more favorable with alcohol.

Ether is quite the headrush, but the effects last only a few minutes, it's not really that fun, and the stabby headache is no joke. I do not recommend.

It only hurts when you stop.

And HST was spot-on. If you want to turn yourself into a completely desperate degenerate, ether is just the thing. Especially if you've already got a head full of acid.

That is... oh. Man.

B and I first bonded over ether, cheap wine in an IV, and, later, an incident which I won't detail. No acid, though. Well, later, ecstasy and mushrooms, but never acid.

Why is it you degenerates reduce everything to huffing solvents, even if they are polar, bear with me, the intended application was to wash the coke properly, not abuse it to get high...

I don't even know what you're talking about. I hate cocaine and ether is for laboratories.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/26/us/arizona-candidates-english-under-challenge.html?_r=1&nl=todaysheadlines&emc=tha23

A judge is blocking Alejandrina Cabrera from being on the ballot based on her English skills. Apparently the law is that elected officials in Arizona need to be able to do their job without a translator. The judge called in a linguist, who determined that Alejandrina couldn't speak english well enough to do the job. The counter-argument is that the linguist had a thick Australian accent and Alejandrina couldn't understand him.

what do you guys think about this?

I think it's fucking ridiculous. The community she serves is bilingual, and that area has primarily spoken Spanish for hundreds of years. If her constituents don't primarily speak English, and in fact most of them understand Spanish, then the law requiring she not require a translator is absurd.

how did the discussion in your class go, Nigel?

My teacher said that money is too complicated and shut it down.

Hey that's the same thing your government almost did in September

On topic, isn't this whole idea about whether money itself is useful, or even "property", if you're not spending it, closely related to the economic term liquidity ?

Like, to paraphrase the saying: You can't have your money and buy cake with it too?

OOOH SNAP

And yes, it is related; I need to think about it more.

Today in class, money-as-public-resource was brought up by one of the other students. I'll copypaste my reply to Net vaguely regarding it in my FB thread:

QuoteWell, for one thing, if money is not private property but a public resource, it puts a very different spin on taxation. It really might even change the way people view extreme concentrations of wealth. We live in a capitalist democracy, and the monopolistic capitalism we practice here is really damaging our democracy. In democracies that utilize a form of socialistic capitalism, they tend to have much more democratic systems, and an economically healthier public, even though they also practice a high level of wealth redistribution via taxation and public services.

Of course, all my arguments are predicated on the idea of a fiat currency.  A currency where something like gold is used as the base unit of currency would follow different rules, naturally, because it is a) a limited resource, and b) has utility aside from acting as a form of currency.

Yes, that's what I'm basing my question on, too... money as it is currently used in capitalist society.

I suspected a few people would bring it up, so I thought it best to forestall it by being completely open about the premises I am operating under.

Perfect... probably wise to get that definition in early in the conversation.

I am close to viewing money as a resource rather than as property. It's a pretty tricky topic.

I am hereby offering my services as "rep".  Feel free to forward people or their emails to me, and I will send them away satisfied.  By which I mean I will be satisfied when I send them away.

 CPD, I think you should take him up on this.

And I love that latest one!

These are awesome.  :lulz:

I love that people complain to you about me and ECH.

I have, in all this time, only gotten one solitary butthurt email from a lurker complaining that we are all terrible mean people and not nice at all.

Oh, and the fact that we aren't "special" enough is priceless!  :lulz: "You're just people!" Oh, here, let me give you your money back.

Hard to get ahold of ether?

:lulz:

I'd tell you how to make it for about $5 but I'm not sure you're ready for the responsibility.

Why would anyone want to do ether? :? So you can get kinda dizzy and have a raging headache the next day?
