TheLiving Dead

If you insist...I need some Doritos first. There we go. See, I live in rural Pennsylvania in a little shit town where most people my age are either trying to be black (even though they'd fear for their life if they ever met a black person) or fully embracing the ignorant redneck stereotype. Now me, I'm a neurotic, mentally and emotionally unstable, sixteen year old who reads Ayn Rand, Terry Pratchett, and the Illuminatus trilogy. So, I'm in a unique position to both recognize and observe the rot at the center of my little piece of "small town America". People complain about everything but are to lazy to try and change it, they judge and stereotype everyone, and the best part of all is that they do all this while trying to act like a cynic. The bastards haven't seen enough or done enough to be a fucking cynic. Neither do I, except for a couple areas, but it seems that I'm the only one who recognizes this. And you see that's the joke. The sick, demented, gag is that in one of the richest, most intelligent, and freest nations in the world is filled with people who think that they know what a shit life really is. Sure, we've got a recession going on, but there are countries out there who have never had anything but a fucking depression!

I mean what would the poor idealistic bastards who founded this damn country think? We're lazy with our duties as both human beings and as a nation. I mean, we started out as a pretty moral nation, but at some point we just gave up. John Adams, Sam Adams, Tom Payne would be vomiting up their guts if they saw us today. The current generation is the sickness without it's mask. The gorilla without a human suit. The flaws I mentioned earlier are perfect examples of what we're becoming. Their fake cynicism is used as an excuse for an amoral attitude. I have a hard time believing there's a meaning to life, I can't even hold onto my belief in God for longer than sixty seconds. But them, they've turned against any morality with a certainty that I can't even fathom. They do retarded shit like "kick the queer" signs and then treat anyone who thwarts them like a villain.

What's even better is that they aren't even evil. They don't have the spine to actually embrace their world view. They tread the line between the gray area and the pitch black, a vague fear of reprisal keeping them from taking the final plunge into hell. They call us Generation Y or Z, but we're not a fucking letter. This is the Living Dead Generation, too fucked up to go to heaven, to cowardly for hell. The only gods are YouTube and whatever networking site is popular from week to week. Thought is abandoned for echoing the beliefs of our Ubermensch, pop stars and false rebel leaders. Language is forsaken for a bastard predecessor to NewSpeak.

In conclusion, I'm pretty sure that we're descending slowly into Orwell's 1984, but we don't need a revolution to do it. My Living Dead Generation will do it themselves. Everything's a joke, and my generation is part of the punchline.

Maybe I'm an idiot or something, but none of it makes much sense to me anymore.

Well, might as well salvage this. Post how you feel about your inner crazy? Not the goofy, sort of funny crazy, I'm talking your inner demon. Rant until you puke.

Today's just another day, part of the bittersweet monotony of summer vacation. The sun is out, the birds are singing, and the idiot hordes are congregating at our local pool. Now, usually I'm a fairly mellow individual, but today I feel like I'm losing my mind. All of the shit I do and plan to do, the writing, the planning of my reality hack, all of it doesn't make any sense. I don't know why I'm doing any of this. :lulz: I'm moving back and forth between depression and psychotic glee. It's one of those days where I want to watch the whole fucking planet burn, just so I can piss all over the ashes. And right now, I feel like I'm going to freak out, have a little "episode" and set fire to the house. I joined this forum to try and find some like minded individuals who want to try and MindFuck the world back on course, but that really doesn't make any sense. The world is already MindFucked you see. We have what, 2 billion people, going to work every day, coming home, and the next day repeating it. And why? To pay for children's college funds? Just paying for a brainwash of your kids by an alien system. What real purpose is there to all of this? Tell me what the hell is the purpose? You work for fifty good years, for things that are going to die with you. Most of our lives spent acquiring things that last twenty/thirty years. The best part is that within twenty minutes, I'll have recovered the illusion, and I'll just think that all of this was a result of boredom and caffeine. THat's why I'm writing this, so that my crazy can be recorded before I forget it. So, one last question before I give up; What's your fucking purpose?

Or Kill me.

That's true. In real life, most people get only one shot to be a hero or to make a real change.

Then there's Promethea. That wasn't so much about superheroes as reality, mysticism, symbolism, and stories.

Quoteand it it me or does the article seem to be (deliberately?) conflating the mythical hero with the real life hero.

Besides the epic heroes of mythology have a lot of similarities with modern super-heroes. Odysseus is quite similar to Batman and other tactical heroes. Superman and Hercules also come together. Hell, look at King Arthur and Green Lantern. Super-heroes are the evolution of the Mythical hero.

So how would people react to a Discordian state?
