It's funny how the position for boot-licking is so close to the one used for curb-stomping.

There are many, many shitty things about London.  The easy availability of coffee is not one of them.

I live directly next door to a cheap, independent coffee shop, which is next door to a Costa, which is next door to a supermarket which is next door to another independent coffee shop which is next to the tube station.  Convenience has rarely ever been so convenient.

There's a kebab shop, fried chicken place, chippy and three offies immediately there when you leave our street for the main drag.

The most bastardly thing I ever saw was when I lived in a similarly fun area a few miles down the road. The local Booze Busters did payday loans and prepaid electricity.

If one more person calls me on my personal cell to yell at me because my work cell isn't ringing, I shall not be held fucking accountable.

I told everyone in yesterday's meeting that my phone has been sent to Houston because the IT geeks are having trouble getting it programmed.

So I am now yelling like Sam Kinnison at everyone who calls me to tell me they can't call me.

I, on the other hand, narrowly avoided killing a busker with an accordion this morning while getting a coffee.

Was it An disccordian accordion???

They've been a big contributor to PBS Learning Media in particular, if I recall right.

I noticed their name last time I watched NOVA.

Got kind of a sinking feeling from that.

There was some question about it when the "Citizen Koch" documentary got pulled from the station one of them sat on the board of.

QuoteA television producer knowledgeable about ITVS said that "there had been no concern" until the Gibney documentary aired [another documentary that featured the Koch's], and that few executives there had watched the rough cut. Suddenly, many ITVS officials seemed desperate to see it. Lessin and Deal were told to send a password-protected video link of the unfinished film to ITVS. Within days, the video had been played almost thirty times. "It was a real problem, because of 'Park Avenue,' " a public-television official aware of the situation said. "Because of the whole thing with the Koch brothers, ITVS knew WNET would never air it. Never."

The end result was that the doc got edited down several times and ultimately just pulled. It appeared outside of PBS about a year later at Sundance. And David Koch ended up getting pissed and stepping down from the station's board:

QuoteIn the end, the various attempts to assuage David Koch were apparently insufficient. On Thursday, May 16th [2013], WNET's board of directors quietly accepted his resignation. It was the result, an insider said, of his unwillingness to back a media organization that had so unsparingly covered its sponsor.

Meanwhile, Drudge and the other right wing nutjobs are mad because Michelle Obama was "defiant" and DIDN'T wear a hijab.

WTF? Every facebook conservative I've seen post about it has been fairly positive about it, usually in sentences that begin "I hate to give her credit, but..." and ending "Her husband still a moslem, though."
