We have until 2021 before seriously bad things start happening as a result of global warming.  I believe we're in for a power struggle of Biblical proportions as the temperature starts to rise and the inaction of our leaders prompts emergency measures to be taken.  Of course, there will be inertia from governmental agencies and big business alike, but one the shit hits the fan, action will be taken.  There's an obvious problem that is being overlooked, however: Who is going to pay for the massive transition to clean energy?  A hydrogen fuel-cell car, if it's ever invented, will be affordable only to the privileged.  Other alternative fuels have their own problems, and are also astronomically expensive.  So, how is a working American family going to afford their brand new Prius?  Are taxes going to be raised in a fashion similar to that in socialist Sweden, and then have Uncle Sam distribute clean cars ala the Soviet Union?  Or (and this seems much more likely) are we going to sacrifice some of the many luxuries we have in a rich & powerful country?
If there's one thing about human nature I know to be true, it's that most people don't work unless they have to.
There are two kinds of people in this world.. Winners and losers.. I think we know which kind you are.

Wouldn't that be a shame?

2021 EXACTLY?

Interesting.  Explain yourself.  Be prepared to back it up.

According to Time, it's 2016, and carbon levels will become self-sustaining by 2026.

Yes, but a tank of gas will cost you more than the vehicle by then, so make sure you bring a pump and hose for stealing the bikers fuel.

You know, I used to think the conspiracy nuts were crazy when they said the rich were going to let the poor quite literally die off due to conflation of economic and environmental crises and inherit a much less populated and cleaner earth for themselves,

Given the events of the past year, I'm starting to worry that perhaps I was too dimissive...

This is of course the upside.

Incidentally, has anyone heard much about the international food shortage?  Apparently the USA is hoarding rice, and China is spending greenbacks like there is no tomorrow to get hold of more....but that's just what I hear.
