Yes, I tend to look terminally bored, yes I am bloated, and YES I have bad teeth... if you can get beyond all that, please view my first rambling podcast:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAVM_nY5QJs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAVM_nY5QJs)

Keep 'em coming, Hoops/Bawheed. I haven't had the guts to really dive into making my own video production(s) yet.

Also, nice Sacred Chao pendant.

Also, you don't sound bored but tired.  And you lave long eyelashes and very pretty eyes--couldn't really see the teefs.

Also also:  Vincent Verthaine, IIRC, sees Eris as a true deity in his life.

I was tired.  It probably is a good idea to do them earlier.  Plus, my wife was in the other room and I was self conscious about being heard... I think I will do future ones while alone.

I like it a lot Hoopla!

I agree with p3nt, you do look kinda bored. I dunno how out-of-character it would be for you, but I'm reminded of TGRR's saying (or perhaps it's SubGenius dogma) "too much is nearly always better than not enough!". Better to appear overly enthousiastic, hyped, in rage, full of hate, spirited or whatever high-energy state, than not enough so. Remember, you're on camera, doing a performance, it's perfectly allright to overdo it a littlebit and perhaps get into a character somewhat. What would a BARON do? :)

Apart from that, I was a bit freaked out when you said "you're watching this right now, sitting in Chaos" -- HOW DID YOU KNOW??? :?

That's when I paused the vid to post this, I will now watch the rest :)

Oh, another thing, I saw Cramulus do in his Diabetics rant, at least I think he did it like that. Just record a much longer video than you actually publish. Redo bits of your speech a few times if you don't like it, or just wanna try out different ways of expressing it. Record everything, then cut out the duplicate bits and stuff you don't like. Make sure you have a second or so pause when starting another take, so you can use this "empty" video space to control the pacing a littlebit, if you cut it properly, the cuts won't seem unnatural. Maybe move to a different pose to signify there's been a cut, so you don't see just your mouth shift suddenly.

Title: Re: Hoopla Podcasts
Post by: Triple Zero on January 16, 2009, 09:41:20 PM
yaaay :D I was thinking that my old avatar was looking a littlebit too smug, people may be getting the wrong impression of me, especially after posting that Montmartre pic (I still love the picture Suu, don't worry, it's really a very good likeness IMO). It's a little doodle drawing I made years ago and had lying around on my HD.

I've been kinda considering maybe recording my own youtube podcast .. but I think I'd be reciting somebody else's rant in that case (will ask permission if I pick one, of course). Since I don't have much rantings of my own, that I wouldn't want to put past here first in text format, but that means I'll have to think something up first, and down that road, nothing ever gets done. Also my webcam is pretty crappy.

Loved the eye contact.

Loved the emotional tone.

As far as RAW's differing pronunciations it may have been intentional satire of L. Ron Hubbard.  Hubbard has pronounced Xemu and Xenu for the same entity at different times. At least Wilson's pronunciations can come from the exact same spelling. Or Wilson could have used different pronounciation because "IT DOESN"T FUCKING MATTER"

Also try using closeness to your advantage.

Back away from the camera a little to make the overall tone one of ease. Lean in for ideas that you want to be more unnerving. When you are close to the camera it seems like you are a little more in my bubble.

holy fucking :mittens: way to incorporate the feedback, Hoops!

I really dig this style. You look kinda like that floating head computer guy from Red Dwarf! :)

I just have two minor things (if you want, because they're minor, so feel free to ignore)

- pan the camera a littlebit up, your head gets cut off a lot and the bottom part of the screen is often black.
- i personally don't really care for a 2 minute rant about how I shouldn't care how to pronounce Eris ("ear-is" is the default Dutch way) :)

otherwise, :mittens: once more!

Hahaha awesome! :mittens:

I confess to having a distinct tribalist bent, but I feel that tribe and nation are very different concepts.

And the "pride" thing... yeah! Totally! Being proud of something completely arbitrary which you did not in any way influence seems like a last-ditch effort to find something of value in an otherwise worthless life. I mean, if you want to be proud, DO something, MAKE something to be proud of, to feel accomplished over. Otherwise it's like me being proud of having brown eyes. Or fingers.

I used to make films in school, and would generally act any character I couldn't find someone to play... which is how Enrico was developed actually.  Believe it or not, that crazy old bastard has been in my life since 1994!

I just did one the other night which is full on acting... I basically did my rendition of Christian Bale's outburst, while commenting on Christian Bale's outburst.  It was fun.

Check your PMs.  Not sure how we'll send the videos back and forth, as they get pretty big.

For sending raw avi's back and forth you really need a server to act as intermediary. Instead of Roger mailing the avi to Hoops he uploads it to server then im or mails Hoops the link. Hoops then downloads it from there, makes whatever edits and re uploads.

Unless it's a really small AVI (unlikely) mailing it is totally non practical. Good news is there's always someone who can lend you a bit of server space or get an account on rapidshare or something.

These are really excellent!  I went back & watched some of the ones that weren't linked here?  (not sure if they were)  Objective Reality, Nationalism & the chaos one.  Also like the intro & ending pieces.  You are intense! & very interesting to watch.  Thanks & respect.   :)

Nice videos. I  like the most the one about nationalism and the one about the sports cars tough guys.
