I had that thought too. Some stooges pull the same retarded schtick on Romney, and then the Birthers can claim "it's totally not about race."
Especially when the eventually verify the certificate, claiming this adds more weight to their Obama=Kenyan routine.

Yup second sentence says it all: "You might think birthers are crazy conspiracy theorists, but you can't say they're inconsistent."
When this is over in a few days because the certificate was "verified"/no one cares/whatever, it'll be something to point back at to say "see, we're fair".
Except that people will actually believe that because a TV somewhere said that and will actually use it as a serious argument and I'll just be :facepalm:
