You offend my poetry-loving sensibilities, sir. :horrormirth:

;) I laughed anyway.

Having had several unpleasant driving experiences in Maine, I'd just liked to second this:

Definitely would recommend having some kind of GPS system.

Speaking of technology, I would put out the caveat that depending on what part of Maine she goes to, cell phone coverage can be sketchy.  Just a good thing to know when planning for the trip.

Sad. That is the saddest unfunny pun.

Interesting.

In the OP, Trix couldn't even remember TGRR's name, then she says that "I have read many of his posts".

I'm calling "Poptard".

Actually it's more simple then that... I looked him up more as soon as I saw the fake-jealous reply calling him Roger, so I would recognize him if/when he responded.

And anyway, the one-up comment was a bit out of line with the rest of that post, I agree.  I apologize.

A novel approach would have been "Hello, I'm Trix, nice to meet you."

That is what I meant by failure to lurk properly.  On most boards I frequent, that is the predictable and boring intro.  Also, most of the flak was from this rant thread, rather then my intro.  I think the intro was a bit better received, and my mistake was venting my mood in the rant section while I am still too new for anyone to understand that I am not always like that.

This is what I find kind of disappointing. You come in balls out ranting, you don't care who you're offending, blah blah. Now you're apologizing, explaining yourself, talking about what you should have done instead. Own your shit, dude. Figure it out and do it better next time.

Discordian Recipes / Re: Discordian Travel Guide
June 17, 2011, 07:51:11 PM
I was thinking it'd be a nice excuse to go play tourist where I live. I haven't done most of the standard touristy things here in 5-10 years. Ideally then I'd be able to be all "of the normal guide book recommendations, these are worth checking out: blahblahblah. If you want to do off-guide book things, look at this stuff: blahblahblah! And here are some things that sort of run in the middle."

Like Jenne said, some combination of locals and visitors will probably work best. Multiple perspectives and all that.

I'm shocked you'd ever tell me to stop, to be honest.

You got me--I wouldn't. I'm pretty sure saying "red" would be much more effective, anyway, if the need ever arose. ;)

Incidentally, being an Authority On Dildos and all, I'm finding it a lot harder to use them effectively in my insults.

If you were wondering, "Inflatable Butt Plug" will usually work in that situation.

Maybe. But does "Hey LMNO, quit being such an Inflatable Butt Plug!" ring the same way?

Every time a noob shows up with a chip on their shoulder and the determination to take someone down a peg or two, it's about Roger. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

It's starting to give the rest of us a complex, frankly.
So true, Nigel! I mean, what the fuck. I know my rampant emote posts are highly controversial and still I hear nothing about them. Nothing. What is this shit?

Trix, shut the fuck up and go smoke a bowl already.

If it makes you feel any better, almost every single one of your posts throws me into a helpless, apoplectic rage. It's a wonder I don't shit myself every time I see your avatar at the top of a post.

It does make me feel better, thanks!  ..Ahem. I mean, GO FUCK YOURSELF NIGEL I DON'T NEED YOUR STINKING UNDERSTANDING. I HOPE YOU CHOKE ON A BUNCH OF RUBBER DICKS. MY AVATAR BETTER MAKE YOU SHIT BRICKS! YOU KNOW, BEING THE TWIN OF YOUR AVATAR AND ALL. SHIT. BRICKS. NIGEL!

Incidentally, being an Authority On Dildos and all, I'm finding it a lot harder to use them effectively in my insults.

Oh that wasn't criticism; just sharin' my thoughts. I originally had a few notebook pages' worth of a long-winded response before I realized I had veered far, far away from your OP (and into the land of sequins, coworkers who spend $400 on clothes, and Richter's Weapon X).

Drama whores aren't looking for advice. It would kill the reason for drama whoring. I think a bigger issue than having your advice go ignored by a drama llama is assuming that the person wants advice in the first place. As you said, a lot of it involves ranting and whining just to get it out. I'm sure parenting skills can be called into question, but I think there are other factors (personality, self-esteem, environment, etc).

I read a book called Stone Butch Blues which I liked very much at the time, don't know how I'd feel about it now. It covered a broad range of gender and sexuality issues. If nothing else it convinced me that these deeper issues should be subject matter in education systems. Of course, not American education systems. They'd just fuck it up.

Stone Butch Blues has become a tiny bit outdated by today, I think, but damn did Leslie Feinberg open my eyes to an entire piece of queer culture that I barely understood at the time.  :)
