But it might've been the nice guy.

No such thing.

I'm also an underemployed ex physics student, thats not working out any better.

Yeah, I know a lot of unemployed physicists right now. Then again, an undergrad physics almost any kind of degree is pretty useless.

QuoteI feel like I must be missing something, here. Is there any reason for him to even care? Why? Is it supposed to be some kind of big deal?

I don't know if he would care or not, so I didn't presume to make the choice for him.

??? But everyone already knew that he posted some links over there to try to get people from there over here, and that someone from there had, indeed, ventured over. It's posted in that thread.

That because he "contributes" (but not anywhere it can be verified) he cannot fit the profile of a Really Real Discordian, for Realness.

Most terrorists studied science at University.

Therefore, it is a dangerous career choice.

Since it's going to take all of three seconds for anyone to verify that once it's been pointed out, yeah.  But the whole point was to let Tosk decide for himself how he felt about it.  So, pffffbbbttt.

I feel like I must be missing something, here. Is there any reason for him to even care? Why? Is it supposed to be some kind of big deal?

Daruko does plenty of "creative" projects.  With his "friends".

Really.

What was his point, and why does he think anyone cares?

That boy is confused.

Quotedon't sweat it some of the best posters here have gotten of to a  rough start if you are smart you can make it work for you..

I knew I was in for a rocky start, but I needed to know where I was.  There's a lot you can't get from reading archives.

I'm an underemployed 20-something ex-philosophy student.  If I wasn't on a mission, I wouldn't be a stereotype.

EDIT:  I will probs use this piece as part of my BIP "revamp"  (though it really is getting less and less like a revamp and more like a new piece of work with every page I do), so any suggestions for a title?

I understand what you're saying, but actually I'm trying to focus on archetypes which show up in every setting, not just on this forum. I used the term "Really Real Discordian" not because it's an in-joke here, but because it's a phrase which engenders instant recognition in everyone who hears it... regardless of context. I could be among magicians and say "Really Real Black Magician" and they would COMPLETELY get what I was saying, instantly. It has a strong gut resonance, and every group encounters Really Real _Whatevers_ who love to tell everyone else that they're Doin' It Wrong.

I've only been here a year and a half, but I've encountered Really Real _Whatevers_ periodically for decades, no matter what I'm doing.

My last point is that we are not "appropriating" the Wiki, we are adding to it according to our own knowledge and experiences, which is all anyone is capable of doing. That is what a Wiki is for, and in theory, if enough people do it, you end up with a fairly comprehensive encyclopedia that covers a broad range of experiences and cultures. It's really not our fault if there aren't a lot of other people/groups out there also editing this Wiki. Trying to drum up interest in editing it among other online Discordian communities might be a worthy project, if you want one.
