Quote from: The Lord and Lady Omnibus Fuck on August 05, 2009, 10:01:56 PMFuck, the "I'm so impressed with myself because I'm old enough to buy beer" threads are among the most useless and inane ones on the board, and that's saying a lot considering we have threads that were started just to be useless and inane. I mean, there's already a whole thread dedicated to people talking abut what they're drinking; does each individual who reaches legal age need to start their own to make a list of what beers they like?

Hell, at least throw in a review or two, to make it worth reading.

topics young people can no longer talk about on PD, according to Nigel:

- getting laid
- beer

:|

no this thread doesnt interest me either, but I don't post about it. people whining about it however, yeah it's been a while.

It's not the WHAT, it's the HOW. I thought I made that clear.

Oh, I'm not supposed to call it stupid anymore when people are being stupid? Enjoy having a board overrun by AKK and Daruko.

I'm thinking a pterodactyl with an erection, carrying a Golden Apple and smoking a pipe.

For the scrid, I am particularily thinking of the version that has one of the hands pointing back at the viewer.  The other hands are pointing in various directions, I would pair this with the discussions we've had about Paths, representing the many different ways a person can go.  And the finger/hand pointing back at you is kind of, silently, begging the question.  "So, where are YOU going to go?"

So, the Scrid is kind of a live-action Chaostar?

Huh?

I think as a social, tool wielding lineage it's safe to say that intelligence isn't based on how well we are simply able to survive individually, but how well we can survive individually, how well we can help other's survive, and how well we can make tools to aid our survival. As Requia noted, Kudzu is ferocious in its ability to cover wide areas and eliminate all competition, but thats not how intelligence works in a human context, and we can really know intelligence in any other context. The whole thing is a slippery slope. Start saying Kudzu is intelligent and people will mistake the context. Kudzu "intelligence" isn't a good survival trait in humans.

Also, map is not the territory, especially ESPECIALLY in ecological computer modeling.

I was just making a suggestion. I don't see how that could be perceived as "insulting".

Sorry if I offended you.

But you were WRONG

I hate it when people are wrong on the Internet.

I like old people. It's the one advantage to getting older, is that it's easier to hang out with cool old people.

I could just ship them all Priority with the free boxes, and it would be $4.80 for everyone. Or I could go buy a bunch of freezer bags and manila envelopes just for this, and then be stuck with the extras afterward. That seems silly when I already have all these small shipping boxes right here already from my business, though.

You can usually drop extra boxes back off at the PO, if you go around back to the business door.

Given that I've been running a mail-order business for the last seven years, and has a secondary one which I sold when I got too busy, I think I have a pretty good handle on the whole "shipping" concept. Not to get pissy with you, but it is a little insulting when my whole livelihood is based on shipping to have some guy who "used to sell T-shirts on eBay years ago" try to correct my shipping estimate.

Also, you were wrong. I hate it when people are wrong.
