Today, for a brief second, I thought of a life without Roger. It was much like my current life, except that this forum was a bit nicer.

Amnesty International's posters to try and highlight the suffering caused by the diamond trade (if you want to see something good on that theme, watch the film Blood Diamond)

I own (in the completely legal sense) a divx rip of that movie which I didn't download through torrent, honest guv, I bought it in a shop, for money. SRSLY

I was wondering whether to convert to ps3 or not - you've just convinced me.

Also Lord of War with Nicky Cage touches on the subject too. And that IS a fucking good movie.

I've never seen Lord of War, but Blood Diamond was brilliant.  I used to think De Caprio was another idiot pretty-boi actor, but in this he plays the Rhodesian mercenary quite well, even down to accent.  And the depictions of how the "rebels" basically mass murder villages was brutally realistic, for Hollywood.  That the plot pissed off De Beers made it all the better.

Lord of war is to international arms trade what fight club was to multiple personality disorder.

Can't recommend it highly enough. Look out for Eamonn Walker as Andre Baptiste - guy totally pwns every scene he's in, even with Cage and Holmes in shot (no mean feat)

I just found a totally legal and registered pay per view website which will absolutely in no way allow me to watch it for free. :D

Commendable exhibition of 'teh right stuff' on your part mr Cain.

For if we disobey societies laws of personal conduct where would such a thing end?

In the despicable pits of iniquity and depravity I say!

Indeed.

Also, I see what you mean, about the Fight Club thing.  And thats just from the opening scene.  I get the feeling I am going to like this.... 8)

I love this soundtrack.  I can see the Fight Club similarities, in fact I was surprised it wasn;t the same director.

I figured it'd be right up your street. I learned a lot of the same kind of fascinating facts that I learn from your posts from time to time.

Yeah, the Ukraine stuff is interesting.  We should consider ourselves lucky that Russia convinced them to give up their nukes, or some ex-Soviet general probably would have sold them, too.

I saw a preview for Blood Diamond...must see it.

And Leonardo diCaprio grew up quite a bit in the past 10 years or so film wise. Big time.

Yeah, I had noticed that a bit too.  He seems to avoid the big, Hollywood blockbuster types and goes for the more interesting roles as well, which I think is pretty cool.  He's made his money, after all, why not try out the roles you enjoy?

LMNO

It's actually fairly impressive.

And, he doesn't actually suck in them.

Must admit I thought he was a bit pouty in Gangs of New York, even aside from the "WTF, this is Scorcese???" factor.

I'm trying to psyche myself up to watching that thing he's in with Matt Damon.
