There is research on this, and this is not correct.

That's about par for the course.   :lulz:

I am constantly amazed at the sheer quantity of incorrect information I have stored.

Incorrect information abounds. I'm constantly finding things I have always thought were true that aren't, too. For that matter, as research progresses it's constantly disproving earlier ideas that were once thought to be true; for example, the idea that new neurons are never made after birth.

I know! They just discovered that the Black Plague was air-borne (invalidating centuries of the "it only spread by Black Rat + Fleas" theory).

I thought it could take either form, depending on conditions.

Yes, it's the same bacteria, and the name given to an outbreak is due to the area of the body infected & accompanying symptoms (lymph-bubonic vs lungs-pneumatic). The prevalent theory was that the 14th century Black Death was bubonic (spread by rats, like other bubonic plagues including modern outbreaks) in order to explain it's spread patterns. This new find is more leaning towards direct human-to-human transmission.

Makes those plague doctor masks not look quite so ridiculous now.....even if the oft quoted "Miasma Theory" was still wrong.
