Everything here (with the exception of Roger's rants) should be kopyleft, but it's best to doublecheck with the original poster.

You can steal all of my shit, BTW.

I just wanted to echo this.  I consider my stuff kopyleft as well and I require and insist on no credit.

You can, however, give me a free copy of the book when it is published.  :-D

(this may have already been suggested but) possibly the right kind of ending would be then with the heroprankster dying/getting squashed/locked up/etc, but having waked up a lot of people, following in his footsteps, jaking the fuck out of the rest of the world.

Yeah, I think that's what I'm angling towards.

I always liked just a semi-happy ending with a soft hint of melocholy in the background
im a sap
no big explosions, but the main character coming to a realization
Through me the way to the city of woe, Through me the way to everlasting pain, Through me the way among the lost.
Justice moved my maker on high.
Divine power made me, Wisdom supreme, and Primal love.
Before me nothing was but things eternal, and eternal I endure.
Abandon all hope, you who enter here.

I wouldn't want to read any happy ending. That doesn't echo the times yo.
One by one, we break the sheep from their Iron Bar Prisons and expand their imaginations, make them think for themselves. In turn, they break more from their prisons. Eventually, critical mass is reached. Our key word: Resolve. Evangelize with compassion and determination. And realize that there will be few in the beginning. We are hand picking our successors. They are the future of Discordianism. Let us guide our future with intelligence.

6.5 billion Buddhas walking around.

99.xxxxxxx% forgot they are Buddha.

mang's ending of ultimate compromise:

the hero achieves the effect he/she wanted

however, they get squished in the process

but, he/she survives and has to fade out in the background (like when jack bauer faked his own death and went underground)

but the people who were awoken to the hero's doings carry on.

thus the central figure is removed and yet is commemorated.

it's not a totally happy ending, isn't totally nihilistic either

Isn't that a plot for Moore's Dark Knight series?

it might be....but i've never read that. i was just trying to keep everyone happy with an ending that wasn't entirely happy.......or sad.
