Hey, cool, we're in CAPS! Anyway, if you're in the Rhode Island area and are free, I hope you can come by, and for the rest of you, I'll see if there's some sort of way to see it over the internet.
Ok, so that was a fun show. It's airing/aired tonight, but I'm still looking on where to find clips online.
NEXT UP-
Anne Marie's sister Theresa and I will be playing Irish folk music Saturday, March 10th at 1:00pm at the Lower Mills branch of the Boston Public Library.
Time to remember the songs I drank away from last year.
Unfortunately, it looks like I may not be playing at The Auld Sod on St. Patrick's Day as a result of the owner not getting a hold of Eamonn the squeezebox player.
Whoo. Ok, just as a heads up I might not post much this week. I'm including some songs that I didn't last week and they're taking some figuring out.
It's around this time that I realize that old songs often have the same melody but not the same chord progressions and I have to figure out which simultaneously works best for both my hands and my larynx.
Oddly enough, the song I foresee myself fucking up on is the The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy- the only song in the set that is rock and not Irish folk (unless you want to count Whiskey In The Jar, which was a folk song before Thin Lizzy, Metallica and the Grateful Dead did it). It's an interesting difference- rock songs I have to memorize, but Irish folk songs I can get away with just having lead sheets as long as I know the vocal melody.
Also, for Boys Are Back In Town, I'm making this lyrical adaption:
Friday night they'll be dressed to kill
Down at Eris Bar and Grill
(original lyric is Dino's Bar and Grill)
Ok, clips.
I'm going to use some of these to get more Irish gigs with this violinist, so let me know what you think. You also get to hear my speaking voice. I apologize for some of the weird guitar sounds. I have a shitty capo and a 12 string acoustic.

Guess i should stick to rock/metal. Or hang it up. Or something.
Anyway friday the 11th daniel ouellette will be playing in plymouth. This gig will feature anne marie of anarchangel on backing vocals deirdre (villager) of anarchangel on bass and kevin (twid) of anarchangel on guitar making this the first time that a majority of anarchangel has perfromed on stage with someone else at the same time. Buttons will not be playing drums and pat will not be playing guitar for reasons i dont know.
Also at this point any gigs i have should be understood as daniel ouellette shows until late july.
HEY! I did NOT steal away your rapier! :argh!:
I just threw in the lake.

Pfft. We'll see what me brother in the army has to say about that. I think he's stationed in Cork or in Killarney.
Wait... I have a brother? Fuck! No one told me!

I liked them all, and I'm happy to hear that you picked the correct version of the lyrics for "Whiskey in the Jar". :lulz:

Those lyrics are my favorite version. Screw Thin Lizzy for messing it up and misleading Metallica.
Well, it's official now, I have a solo project.
I have an acoustic gig in Salem on August 16. The original intent was to play Irish music. Now, I'm still going to do that, but I'm going to mix them up with some originals and some covers. Exactly how the percentages will work out aren't clear to me yet. I might do an Anarchangel song, some stuff that's been on the back burner for a while and needs dusting off, and some interesting covers. I think I'm going to cover this song if I can learn it in time:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lLi1pa4FUw
or some other song by them. I guess that's part of it- I want to cover a couple of songs that are maybe not as well known. Obviously I should do one or two that are well known so people can sing along if they want to or not.
So I'll take suggestions for any of the categories, or maybe some advice that would interest you enough in one guy and his guitar to follow him around a bit and try and keep up to date with what he's doing.
This is a very amorphous side project. I don't exactly know what my focus is going to be, I just want to keep the punters interested.
Hell, I don't even know what to call it. It's not like my name exactly rolls off the tongue.
How did I miss this? great stuff, Twid!
i just saw it too.

You got it!
I also must now set aside at least 3 hours of daily practice for the next 31 days. Oh boy.
Also im interested in doing medleys. Tea party usually breaks in to paint it black in the middle of sister awake so i might do that. Another option is all along the watchtower/stairway to heaven since each of them contains an a g f progression. Suggestions? SUGGESTIONS?! actually this three hour thing might be cool and i will get a break.

Do the I-IV-V medly: Wild Thing, Hang On Sloopy, Smells Like Teen Spirit, MmmBop, Louie Louie.
Louie Louie also works with that, as does Beverly Hills.
Also, guess who wrote a song from scratch today and has two thumbs.
Potential Songs:
Irish:
Whiskey in the Jar
Finnegan's Wake
Black Velvet Band
Fiddler's Green
Wild Rover
Moonshiner
Molly Malone
Kevin Barry
Seven Drunken Nights
Jug of Punch
Isn't It Grand Boys
Fields of Athenry
Galar Cam Is Muc [The Pig With Swine Flu]- technically a Ger Wolfe cover
Covers:
I Walk The Line (Johnny Cash)
Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash)
Let's Have A Kiki (Those guys I don't remember the name of)
Sun's Going Down (Tea Party)
Highway to Hell (ACDC)
Sister Awake (Tea Party)
Jailbreak (Thin Lizzy)
Omega (Bruce Dickinson)
Man of Sorrows (Bruce Dickinson)
Tears of the Dragon (Bruce Dickinson)
[something by Dr. John?]
Love That Dirty Water (The Standells)
Charlie on the MTA
Superunknown (Soundgarden) just for the hell of it since it would be unexpected on acoustic
Shoot All The Clowns (Bruce Dickinson) or some equally totally ridiculous BD song
Emerald (Tea Party)
Ready to Go (Republica) talk about a whoa, forgot about that song
Right Stuff (NKOTB) I think people would get a huge kick out of it.
Original/Anarchangel
Saturday Night Blues (Twid)
Train Coming Down the Line (Twid)
Stare At The Sun (Anarchangel)
Skinless (Anarchangel)
Only Sleep (Twid, prior to the prior band)

Turn Around (Anarchangel)
Shoot Out With The Cops (Anarchangel)
That Song I Just Wrote (Twid)
Medleys:
What LMNO just said
Watchtower to Heaven
Something ending with Love Shack
This is not a definitive list.
A lot of these will be axed, some new things will go on.
The venue has confirmed I am the only artist that night and my set is from between 8 and 11.
Oh, and foreign spags, if you can give me a song that can be done by one man from your country, in English or not, feel free to pitch that too. If I'm tempted to do Galar Cam Is Muc (it's a really cute and humorous song, even if it's in Irish. Scroll down to number 5 if you care to, there is an English translation after the actual lyrics (http://www.gerwolfe.com/freamhroot.htm#fr5)) then I'll do anything in any language as long as I'm able to pronounce it from crib notes and it sounds good and or funny.

No, I clicked it immediately.
I'm ah... rewarding myself though. It's not every day that I bang out a song, lyrics music and all within 2 hours.
I had an actual response but was distracted by trying to get Villager to the Kiki.
My response was:
"Ni thuigim" as is said in some parts of Ireland.
This can also be expressed as:
Ne ponemayu (Russian)
Non comprehendo (Latin)
Je ne comprend pas (French)
What the fuck is this shit (English)

I've also identified my problem. I was taking Anarchangel more seriously than the rest of Anarchangel, I said that to them, and they got wicked upset with me and I fully understood what I was saying. Normally, I am taking this band more seriously than you means a big thing, and I did mean it when I said it. Then I realized I was the same guy I was secretly going "what the hell dude, you're better than that". Sure, I was taking Anarchangel more seriously than Anarchangel. A little too fucking seriously. Hey. Look at my face. It's grey as fuck. I am not serious about having a good time. I forgot the reason to pick up the goddamn thing in the first place. Sure, make it a job. Make it a fun job though.
I stopped having fun.
I banged out this song because I stopped giving a shit. It's a throw away song. And you know what? I fucking love it.
I'm uh....
I think I've overdosed on the 1991-1995 nostalgia.
Also, if you were born after this point, fuck you for bad timing.
Nononononononono
OH CHRIST IM OLD NO GIVE ME A TIME MACHINE NOW
GODDAMN IT I ENJOY SLIDERS AND SHIT. AND no... no... if you want to know a history lesson.... Just give me a loaded gun.
I'm going to go back to listening to the albums that I took with me too Ireland when I was thirteen-fifteen.

I think I'm responding to the wrong thread. Oh well. TO NOSTALGIA!!!
Got another original in the works.
Minus covering my own band that will give me 5 originals with three weeks to go. Not too shabby. I mightnt have to do any anarchangel songs at all if i get e few more done within a week and a half.
After band practice on the way home I decided to stop in at the Tavern at the End of the World (you now know what part of Somerville Twid lives in). I wanted to have a couple of beers. Well, hello, you have live acts.
Bartender and I exchanged information.
My one man project may need a name. It irritates me when people pronounce my fairly rare last name incorrectly, plus it's not that easy to remember.
Then make your band name a mispronounciation of your name.
Thus, your new band is called "Mule Kiss".

(The chorus is half in Irish. Bainne na mbo is an gamhna [banya an mo iss an gowna] means something like, the milk is fine for the calf (the response in English is "and the juice of the barley [whiskey] for me"
Ok. Metal cover [for the attn of Waffle Iron]:
The Alchemist by Bruce Dickinson, my version (it is labeled as Aces High which is an Iron Maiden song):

Studio version by Bruce Dickinson for comparison:
